[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

When I go to https://store.epicgames.com/free-games I only see one of the games mentioned above, which is 'The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria', but when I go to the "Poppy Playtime" game page via the link you provided, only then do I see that this game is also available to pick up for free. I don't know and don't understand why this is the case. Do you know what's going on? Oh and one more thing, my location when I visit the site is Poland, if that matters of course.

Your location is irrelevant.

Your reaction with being misled, however, justifies one of my peeves about when drxenija posts here.

Poppy Playtime isn't actually part of the giveaway. Like the EGS home page, drxenija lumped the giveaway and the free game. Poppy Playtime I guess happened to be released at the same time as the giveaway. The base game itself is F2P, as opposed to an actual giveaway, which is why you would not see it as a giveaway on the home page. it's in the free games section.

Also if I'm reading it right, it's sort of like Final Fantasy VII remake, in that they are releasing the game in fragments and using the DLC to make you pay for the rest of the game.
Basically it's a demo or "prologue".
I REALLY hate deceptive marketing.

As much as I loathe that kind of arrangement (though it's standard nowadays) for the sake of completeness*, I'm not sure this is the same route. For Final Fantasy VII, this isn't about buying a base game episode, then adding other episodes as DLCs later. They're not DLCs. Each one is treated as a full game. At least with the first two so far, and I suspect also the third, you can buy it all in one package if that makes you feel better, not just each one separately.

*Yes, I beg of people - stop with the "prologue", "X:Y" etc. announcements! Unless it's an S-tier, standalone game, the rest of the stuff is a trial version of the full game, and usually not good enough to spend time playing unless it allows you to use your progress into the full game. Most games in the free (not giveaway) section are just that. Simple, short games that you have to buy for the full experience. Hook, line, sinker type stuff. Just don't.

This is becoming a derail, I'm posting the reply in the discussion forum.
