[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

I disagree, unless I personally can block users and thus hide their postings? I haven't found a way to do this yet - so I would prefer if this "giveaway" forum only have active giveaways posted.

Normally I'd agree, but with this it sounds what Epic's next weekly giveaway is going to be. Everybody knows by now that a new game will be available on Thursday at 11 Eastern and the giveaway will last for a week.
With virtually any other giveaway I'd wholeheartedly agree, especially if it was one that was only going to last a day or two.
It even says in the posting in question that it will be from 6/6-6/13, so it's not like one of those "today only, grab it or you'll miss it" things.
THOSE I'd love advanced warning for because it will be just my like it will be the day I forget to check in or am too tired to bother because I got home late and just make dinner, take a shower and read a bit in bed before going to sleep.

Sorry about that - i was not following the thread close enough to realize that posting giveaways early / prior to being live is "shunned" about and was missguided when i saw the recent Epic GA Posts always teasing the next game as well - hence i thought revealing the mystery game might offer some value to some (especially considering it aint sold on GOG so grabbing it this way might be the only way for people like me who only buy on GOG to actually grab it).

Will adhere to the threads "rules" from now on and will refrain from posting Giveaways early :).

I don't want to argue with the rules of the forum but I stand by my original comment. I know you say that it lasts a week and therefore doesn't require any advance notice, but a week can go by pretty quick for some people. Additionally I think it being on Epic doesn't disqualify benefits to early birds, like last year when people who got there early were able to get the Director's Cut of Death Stranding before they downgraded to the base game, so if it's a game that people want, knowing that and attempting to get there early may provide a tangible benefit.

Unless there is a specific reason not to post early then go ahead, from above it appears plenty of people will benefit from that. If someone does benefit from such a post then this is what the thread and community is about, if they don't then they can easily just scroll past it rather than creating more posts saying they don't like it.

EDIT: My pet peeve (as people who have read my posts before will know) are people coming in as "mini-mods" saying "this game doesn't belong here" and "don't make posts such as this" for what appear to be relevant posts without giving valid reasons other than they personally don't like them, when there are clearly plenty of people who do like them.
