[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

(ø,ø): Just a heads up to anyone expecting a 7GB download. The download is 37GB. Epic, like Microsoft before them, force you to download 5 full versions of the game with different languages.

Sulibor: Thank you for warning. Is it at least DRM free, or does it require client to be running during the play?
Don't know yet, I'm only 15GB into the download. Hope it is. Hope we can delete the 4 language versions we don't need too, without it breaking the game.

Edit: Someone posted a screenshot of the installation folder, and it looks like the 5 game versions each have their own folder. So if it's DRM-free it's probably safe to delete the ones we don't need.

I've already done the test. Fallout 3 is DRM-free, and you can safely delete the extra languages.

That's great news. Thank you for testing.

What about the EGS version of Alien Isolation? The EGS version is massive compared to Steam, or anywhere else, and it's supposedly the extra language files doubling the size.. Do you know if this is possible with that game?

Short Answer: I'd only purchase Alien Isolation from GOG.
https://www.gog.com/en/game/alien_isolation

Explanation: Since I don't own this game, I cannot do any actual tests, and my opinion is based on the information found here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alien:_Isolation

The Epic version can be forced to run outside the launcher using the -EpicPortal but only the base game will work. DLCs are still DRMed and require the Epic launcher to be running. Additionally there is an additional issue where you cannot load saves from the main menu and instead must start a new campaign then load your save file.

This doesn't meant that I won't claim free games from Epic that have DRM. I just treat them as demos to evaluate if I would enjoy the game enough to purchase from GOG.

Great, thank you for checking.

There used to be a thread discussing DRM-free games by Epic, but it was was locked as a result of those new forum rules.

I think it's not necessarily a good idea to discuss the topic any further here, as it may lead to this thread being locked as well.

There are some other websites where that information is available, like this:

Not exactly news since it's already available for free from Bethesda and Steam for quite some time, but now that it's been added as a freebie from GOG.com as well I thought I'd mention it:

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory awaits being added to someone's GOG account...
