Two or so days ago I've had *a lot* of games updated on GOG Galaxy. I remember Sunless Sea, Psychonauts, Hotline Miami 2 were definitely updated. But when I click the changelog for the updated games, there's no mention whatsoever to what has been updated.

My guess is that it was something to do with making these games more "compatible" with Galaxy and future updates that won't break it or incur in that "disk access failure" error, but I'm not sure, especially since most of these games (Psychonauts?) don't even get updates anymore.

Does anyone have a clue as to why these en masse minor updates occurred, or exactly *what* was updated in each game?

[EDIT] One other thing that crossed my mind was that GOG was making more games compatible with cloud saves, but apparently a lot of these updated games still don't support the feature.

Have had times when there has been updates in the web page for specific OS's which get flagged as changes but don't affect you if your not using that system, could it be that, i.e. your on Windows and the Mac versions update?
Languages being added is another one.

Am afraid the update system is so bad here now, some games don't get update notifications at all, even for big updates (Dying Light recently), and other old ones, for instance I checked Stalker CoP and that had a language update, but not marked as an update.

I wonder if gogrepo or one of those could pull out lists of updates?

It really could be a number of things such as adding cloud saves, the overlay, or just general fixes related to Galaxy. Usually changelogs are updated when the standalone installer is re-uploaded (assuming the update is an actual game patch) so if it was a game patch you might not know what the fixes were until a few days later.

I thought it could be any number of those. It was a *big* number of games being updated, definitely more than a dozen. I didn't write down all of the updated games (I know I should have, but I'm disorganized and lazy like that, hence why I use Galaxy in the first place), but I remember what some of them were, and I know a few of those still don't support either cloud saves and/or the overlay. Which leaves out general fixes related to Galaxy.

I'd still like to know what, exactly, was updated, though, but I guess that's not likely to happen unless some blue in the know decides to chime in.

Hi,

to be honest I am not sure what happened myself. You are right that those games didn't receive updates for a long while. Would you be willing to send us logs to galaxy-client-support@gog.com, so we can check what kind of updates Galaxy performed?

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

I'll gladly send you guys the Galaxy logs, but I don't know how to get those.

Just tell me how to save the logs, though, and I'll send them your way straight away! :)

You'll find the logs in
* Windows - C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs
(You have to make hidden and system folders visible in order to get to these files)
* Mac - /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

Taken from
GOG.COM SUPPORT CENTER -> GOG Galaxy -> Galaxy-specific issues -> I've encountered a bug in GOG Galaxy. How can I report it?

Thanks.

That was single situation that this happened, right?

On initial research it seems that it could be an outage on our backend sending incomplete information about most recent game version. This scheduled an update for a game and evenetually when it was performed, correct version was returned so in reality nothing was updated. We will continue investigating it why such thing could happen.

Thanks for the help and pointing that out.
