HypersomniacLive: Perhaps I've missed it, but have you provided proof? Please, link me to it, and if you haven't, why don't you share it with the rest of us?
Fairfox: gunsynd (for that's who it is, whatever he claims) has a weird definition of "scammer." I think, for most people, a scammer is somebody who, like,
scams. That is, to deceive somebody (or bodies) out of something. Apparently if you outright ask for something (politeness optional) you're also a "scammer", because somehow being a long-time member and/or having a high rep number means you can't do that. I've really no idea, but he's decided to twist a word to his meaning and gets incredibly defensive when asked about it. It's like if I decided that a chair was actually a sofa, and if you disagree, if the whole world disagrees, hey, you're just wrong.
I love that he's denying it's him, though, despite being from Australia, raging about a pointless rep system on a gaming forum, using his specific and 'unique' definition of words and having exactly the same posting style. I guess having a hissy fit over nothing and giving his account away wasn't enough.
The guy desperately needs perspective. You just can't go through life dealing with things in that way.
He's hardly the only one.
Seeing people getting blacklisted from giveaways because somebody in here made an unprovable accusation is rather disgusting. Now, maybe they're guilty and maybe they're not. But, the guilty until proven innocent aspect of the whole thing isn't what this site used to be like.
It's impossible to prove anybody is innocent that's accused for the same reason that it's impossible to prove guilt in nearly all cases. Barring a Dr. Bob style cock up, there's no way of knowing for sure. You can build a certain amount of circumstantial evidence, but without the rest of the data that Mr. Gog won't share, you never really know.
Personally, I think it's hilarious the way people in here think that they're going to solve the problem. All they're doing is playing into the hands of a handful of trolls. Providing a score board and a way of scumming up all the giveaways in the process. As a connoisseur of trolls, I say bravo.
The correct thing to do is really to just fix the rules of the games. Games that assume that alts aren't going to be used are always going to be susceptible, there's not much you can do about that. Same goes for any giveaways that make demands on what you do after it's given away. You can't enforce the rule, so either accept that people will do what they like with their property, or stop giving things away. There's no way of enforcing or even knowing if they broke the rules anyways.
Perhaps it's because I've been here long enough to remember when the community here was classy, but I do think people need to stop feeding the trolls. The scamming here is probably not even motivated by wanting the games at this point. So even if Mr. Gog were to step in, I doubt it would make any difference as I doubt that nes, wakalo et al., are really motivated by wanting to have the games.
