We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Or you could start spamming GOG staff with complaints via chat, twitter, e-mail, YT comments... until they do their job. Just sayin'

Pardinuz: TBBBBOB.

Sachys: probably far, far less - unless you actively plan to scan every name that comes and goes while continuously keeping an eye on all hotspots. then just far less.
You're right, I believe it would be less work than to keep track of forum activity or enforcing all the other TBBBBOB rules like you do.

Forum activity is not a requirement for being a trusted trader, so it definitely sounds easier to manage.

Is it really their job? As far as I know they're not responsible for any trading going on here.

Though really, it should be - at least for anybody with any sense.

Theres no "safety net" like with steam - no provided system in place to officialise trades (and a rather good one that was created by wpegg was ultimately not used by the people clamouring for it).

So how about people just stop trading with just anybody, and maybe, crap like this wouldn't be so frequent?!

...or the short version: Less numpticism = less numpties = less numptitude = more gubbins!

While it's not, they facilitated getting scammed via chat when they removed basic user info, like registration date and rep, and using all caps. The least they can and should do is restore the above to the state they were when we had the PM system.

But judging by their brilliant idea of how a blocking feature should work efficiently (first add the person you won't nth to do with to your contacts list, and never be able to remove them), that's probably too much to hope for.

I've often thought that perhaps the only way to make GOG listen is to make things like these public outside the forum, as they don't seem to care about their image being hurt in here.

I do agree with you, I would not make any trades myself with someone who isn't an active member of the community.
I was just recognizing that it's not mandatory, as there are several "trustworthy traders" that visit the trading thread but rarely step outside of it.

That would be a perfect solution. But we all know that's not gonna happen... And meanwhile the scammers keep gubbin'.

Both of those should be getting fixed - along with some other things.

Reminds me...
Also I had an idea that could possibly curb a lot of this scammer-alt spamming, which is similar to what Steam does; and easy for GOG to implement: preventing new users to send out private messages unless they have spent at least $5 on GOG.

Discussed before many times.

Paygate = elitism (like it or not, it does).
There are plenty of cases where new users / those that do not regularly use the forums have required the chat function to sort out troubling issues (such as the spate of W3 related account hijacks earlier this year).

Not to mention the cost - it would be cheaper for GOG to simply ban trading altogether.
Just a word of warning to all traders. I sent a gift code to RESNOT, which was shortly after redeemed by a known scammer GOG8. Needless to say I haven't received from RESNOT the game I traded my code for. Don't trade with RESNOT.

Exactly ^this, GOG with their "new" Chat system has only made it easier for scammers/exploiters to abuse the system and reign supreme without any way to see the join date or the ridiculous all CAPS nicks.

Many forum regulars have been impersonated and had to announce their name was being used for exploiting others by posting a warning or creating a thread. Yet, as always nothing has been done about it like everything else that could possibly help the community on the forum.

If you haven't already, contact GOG Support with all the details, ask for your gift code to be revoked (i.e. to be changed into a different one and returned to you), report both accounts and ask for both of them to be locked.

DedIago: I can't surely say that resnot is scammer, but this person is not following trading rules.

It was kinda suspicious, because at first he was worrying about end of discount and then he said that already purchased a game for me today, when a game he offered wasn't on sale since yesterday.
When I asked him to go first because I didn't found him on forums, he sent me a pic that should confirm he owns this gift code. Not the best verification, I should say.

It's not necessarily mean that this person really is scammer, maybe he is just over-cautious. But... you know.
Over-Cautios? Yeah, right! He got the code already, and redeemed it with a well known scammer account: GOG8! What else do you need as proof?
I'd add ERT25Y to the scammers list. He never delivered his end of the trade.

What was the bargain?
wow.. thats a long list of scammer.

GoG probably should implement a trade system which need both confirmation before trading.
