rjbuffchix: Selling games DRM-free doesn't necessarily mean a store should be considered a "DRM-free store" on the whole. After all, Scheme sells some games that lack DRM, but no one other than a few contrarian shills would tell you Scheme is a DRM-free store on the whole. Epic Fail Store is a similar example: many of their games can apparently be made DRM-free but not all, and none of the DRM/DRM-free aspect is advertised (to my knowledge), so it's buyer beware.

The question would then become something like "what percentage of DRM-free games does a store have to have, in order to be considered a DRM-free store on the whole?". The answer will vary depending on people's perspective and tolerance of games/aspects that are DRMed. One thing I did want to point out is that GOG's "sister site", FCKDRM.com, features stores/sources of media that are "100% DRM-free".

Due to the existence of GWENT and other forms of what is essentially multiplayer DRM, we can conclude GOG is not a "100% DRM-free" store, though by most of our readings it is still currently a DRM-free store on the whole. That said, the more DRM or DRM-like stuff that comes here, the more that stops being true and the unique selling point evaporates.

firstpastthepost: Mostly, there is still some mild DRM depending on how you define it, but that pretty much solely applies to multiplayer components of games.

Gwent for example is multiplayer only and requires a client, which could be considered DRM.

AB2012: There may be some platform-level annoyances, eg, updates for GOG games lagging Steam or some games missing features that are on Steam, lack of the newest AAA's, etc, but ultimately you can buy a game here, backup the offline installer, and reinstall & play that game on your next 10 future PC's 100% offline without access to any internet connection or touching any client at all. Not sure what 'beliefs' you have or what 'debate' you're looking for but that's about as DRM-Free as PC games get, certainly vs the competition.

Jonaselder: Well I was saying openly that this is a debat. You can choose to be part of it or not. But Like you said on your comments on my other thread there is clearly some sort of devide between complexity of DRM and the simplesity that most people dont think about like I do.

That is why I made this forum post just to gain knowledge of things I havet thought about.

nightcraw1er.488: There is no debate, there is only arguments from your point. DRM stands for digital rights management. How you interpret that, or gog interprets that, or anyone is really anyone’s guess. There are some areas where most would agree, securom, denuvo, CEG etc. But after that it starts to grey. From my side gwent is designed from the ground up as drm, anything which is online only has no rights from the user. I am very hardline on this, clients, cloud saves, streaming, in fact anything which requires control outside I put under (and read this very carefully before complaining folks) the same umbrella as drm. I am not saying they are drm, just that they can be used as such and involve third party control.
Others do not hold these lines, and in fact are far softer on what they think. As you can see through the thousands of forum posts on this kind of topic, it will simply descend into factionalised arguments.
