IMPORTANT: Please read before posting This topic has been provided to discuss the latest releases of our Downloader (for both Mac and Windows systems) and to submit bug reports. The stable releases (recommended for most users) can be found at this address:http://www.gog.com/downloader.

Latest version:

Mac OS X - 1.2 (build 512)
Windows - 3.6.0

Both Downloaders now have the option of sending Error Reports directly to us (this can be found in app under Settings).

What is your net connection speed, and how stable is your connection? Did you try to download the game by browser?

Yes i download by browser and first file bin, is problem with unpack is crash Internet UPC,

It would be nice to have an option to play sound in case of notifications, when the download manager is running.

Hey!

Intro:
I've been having problems with the Downloader for a couple of weeks now. Started suddenly, and there's really no special event which I could say caused the problems..

Problem description:
I'm running Windows 7 64bit and whenever I try to start the Downloader, it just crashes; "Gog.com Downloader Has stopped working"

Troubleshooting so far:
I've been reading through the forums and uninstalled .net framework 4.* - did not help.

I've done several uninstalls/reinstalls of the Downloader, even searching for all files and folders with "gog" in them, and deleting everything left behind from a regular uninstall and THEN reinstalling - did not help.

I've been using the Gog.com Downloader for ages with absolutely no problems, I have a stable and fast internet connection, Windows says there are no problems with system files, scandisk does not report any errors, I'm not using any external firewall programs, I tried running the Downloader with my antivirus off/on but didn't make a difference.

UAC is off, and just in case I've tried installing to a different folder than "Program Files" - I've also "Ran as Administrator" and even tried "Compatibility Mode" (yes, I was desperate at this point :D).

Does your GOG Downloader is installed on any network drive (on another kind of web resource) ? If yes, could you try install it on, lets say, C: or D: drive and try again?

Nope, just on regular C-drive - don't have any network drives or anything similar and I tried reinstalling twice on two different folders in the root of C (instead of the regular Program Files path).. Do you think it's a "network" problem somehow? I can fiddle around more if I have some kind of idea as to what type of problem this is.. Thanks for helping! :)

It's funny that I've been using the downloader for sooo long with absolutely no problems and then just one day.. POOF!

Can you provide me with a list of dependencies for the downloader? Or is there a list floating somewhere in the forums? Is there something else than .net framework which the program uses, like a part included in most windows operating systems by default - something like a network service or something? I could troubleshoot those if I'd knew where to look :)

The GOG Downloader uses just .NET framework and 3 libraries from Windows SDK (they are provided together with the Downloader. If it stopped to work "from day to day", I think, it's related to any third-party software. Did you install anything lately (changed anything in windows..) ?

My god for the first time ever the down loader is incredibly slow for me. I mean 20.k per second if I'm lucky. It was very fast just yesterday. I checked my download speed from Steam and patches scrolls and they are both still 500K. What gives?

Did you install any firewall or anything like that? Maybe its related to your ISP?

May i suggest to reduce the numbers of concurents connections (like 2 or so) ; in the settings , of course , forget this if allready tried. ;)

It's possible , it does nothing , if the problem is elsewhere

Whitelist the downloader and site to your antivirus. Semi-known problem, let me dig it up.

Hey I have Norton Internet Security but I don't know how to 'whitelist' something. Does anybody know how? I had a look but there are a million options and I know I'll break something.

No idea actually. It should have an option to mark a file as safe, but I've no idea exactly how. If you feel confident enough, I'd suggest turning off Norton and seeing if your speeds improve. If they do, thus Norton is the problem, we can try to find a solution. If they don't, then no need worrying about whitelists etc.

P.S. If you do disable your antivirus, do that only for the duration of the test. No matter how tempting it might be to leave your antivirus off until the download is finished, it's always a very bad idea to be without protection.
P.P.S. See if there's an Internet Security module or something, should be different from the Real Time antivirus.

Well I disabled the firewall, antivirus and turned on silent mode but all to no avail. I also added http://www.edgecast.com/ to firefox exceptions.

:(

I added wpc.11df.edgecastcdn.net too and I even tried IE instead of FF but no.

Turned of all the background tasks too (only had a few). Strange that every other place is fine but GOG.
