barefly: I'm currently having issues with the Gog downloader (version 3.3.14). Basically after a period of time my download will stop. In this case I am trying to download The Witcher 2 and it seems to only stop after a period of time, or due to my screen locking. I'm not too sure because I leave it on overnight for the download. When I am using my pc though the download doesn't stop. The way the download stops is also weird because the resume all button remains grey, the pause all is active, and the download status is listed as paused. I'd appreciate any assistance. Thanks!
[...]
Seems im getting a weird msg that says I can't post any links at this moment on my account. I trimmed down the log files so I could post this edit.

Szulak: I checked your issue, and your PC or notebook going into suspended mode - which stopping the current download. I suggest you change your power settings, you can find them in Control Panel.
I figured this out last night, disabled my pc from going into suspend, and this morning the downloader is still going strong. Thanks!

Szulak: It can be any server-side issue, lets wait a bit if the problem will still occur. Anyway, could you please post your log file?
Sorry for the delay. Log file below.
This was taken after launching the downloader, clicking a link on my download page, and getting the error. You'll see there's nothing here referring to the error.

Not really a bug, but a feedback nonetheless:

Download version 3.3.14.0 (stable)
Windows 7 64 bit SP1

no log, as it's not a bug (but I can make one if necessary)

Problem: Lack of information regarding download resuming after 'turning it off and on again' (rebooting)

When you close the GOG Downloader (to shutdown your computer), even if you pause the current download, the next time you turn your computer on and launch the GOG Downloader, the download list is empty.

It only shows 1 element, "Windows installer", as completed and clicking on the magnifying glass opens an Explorer window of the download folder location, containing each part (.bin) files you already downloaded.

The only way to resume your download is to clear the list, go on the gog.com website again and click on "download" again.

Hopefully, it recognize the existing .bin files and rapidly resume downloading where it stopped, but nothing is informing me of this, so until the very last moment I thought I would have to wait through these 5 hours (7 hours in total for ArmA II CO) because the GOG Downloader would have to overwrite all existing files.

-

Possible solution:

Until we can resume a download directly from the GOG Downloader (with a link to the gogdownloader:// address next to the download entry, saved until the entry is manually cleared from the list), there should be a message (like a small yellow comment box) informing you that:

Your previous downloads weren't finished when the GOG Downloader was closed, but fear not ! You only need to launch the download again from gog.com, and make sure the already-downloaded files are in the same folder as the renewed download. The GOG Downloader will verify these files and resumes downloading where it previously stopped. We're sorry for the inconvenience and are currently working on making this process fully automatic.

That comment box would show up (with a "Do not show this again" checkbox) when you launch the GOG Downloader and the previous session didn't registered a 'clear' or 'completed' download list when the GOG Downloader was closed. It would cover the normal shutdown with unfinished downloads, crashes, process termination, etc.

ps: Thanks for everything you've done, keep up the good work GoG, you're the best ! :)

Few things I would like to note:

Add the minimize button, so it minimizes to taskbar. I prefer minimizing my programs rather than closing them to tray. Also, every time I close to tray, the warning notification pops up(about program closing to tray) - it should be reminded only once.

I would love an option to turn off tray icon. Closing the program should close the program.

Is login really necessary? I am logged in on the webpage already, why login twice?

Downloading big files seems to increase hard drive fragmentation a lot. Steam had similar issues in the past, but they fixed it somehow. It is a bit tiring to defragment hard drive after every download if you plan to keep installers.

Leave no man behind! After uninstalling GOG Downloader, it leaves a bunch of folders in appdata, also leaves a registry entry. Please make uninstaller uninstall cleanly all the files and registry entries. Reason? Someday I might play some older game at work PC, and I would not want administrators to find out about my gaming simply by finding a bunch of folders left behind after uninstall.

That's all :)
HNG, spoke too soon:
Runtime Error (at 139.390):

The source file is corrupted.

You should run the installer's integrity check to verify which files need to be re-downloaded.
Now to find which 1.5 Gb part is corrupted... damn
Sorry if this has been posted before (I checked through a lot of back pages and didn't see this mentioned), but I can't get the downloader to work
When I open up my list of games, I click on the option of using the GOG downloader mode. When I go to the downloader page I can see that it is trying to load the game (it says fetching game data), but after about 4 seconds I get a yellow triangle next to the name of the game I'm trying to install (for example it says ID: medal_of-honor.allied_assualt-war-chestwin.installer) under that there is a red bar and under that a message saying "Cannot fetch game details". At that point it won't do anything else.

I do seem to be logged in correctly (it shows my name). I think I am using the latest version (I've tried redownloading a couple of times) which seems to be 3.3.14 stable.

Any help would be appreciated

Try running the integrity check? Run the installer, click options, check the "Verify Integrity" box. Alternatively, re-adding the game to the downloader should do a proper hash check, and download the corrupted parts only.

First thought was that since the site is getting hammered by people checking the SS2 announcement, thus resulting in errors communicating with the servers. I don't seem to have this problem, so only suggestion would be to wait a bit (15 minutes? Half an hour?) and try again.
If this fails, upload your log file to pastebin and post a link here for Szulak to take a look at.

Thanks for your kind help ! :)

Sadly, the problem isn't solved:

1) The error happens before the installer can correctly launch. I do not have access to the integrity check.

2) I tried adding the game to the downloader again, it didn't made a proper hash check as it "validated" the chunks and called it "downloaded", despite the installer still crashing and reporting the corruption.

Now, I'll move in another folder chunks after chunks, see when the chunk I just redownloaded makes the installer work.

...

EDIT: OK, removed the .exe installer and the first chunk, redownloaded them, then I could access the file integrity check, then it worked well, thanks a lot everyone ;)

Login is necessary due to security reasons, the gog downloader do not know if you are logged in or not into website.

I will take a look on it, however, nobody mentioned it before. How did you check if its increasing hard drive fragmentation?

We will fix it in the new version, thank you.

I don't know where did you find that version, but its version from 2008 or 2009 year of GOG Downloader :)

You can download current version of GOG Downloader from www.gog.com/downloader
That's strange, because the link you sent me is the same link I used to download the version I thought I was using (I wasn't even a member of GOG back in 2008 / 2009.

How do I go about completely uninstalling the GOG downloader? I want to totally erase it, so I can then try re-installing it..
