dudalb: Is there anyway you can remove a game from the downloader? Because of the final chunk problem, I downloaded the Wallace and Gromet patch using my browser. So I have it,but the gog downloaded insists on downloading it. How do I remove it?
Right click on the game icon and Remove from list.

DarkR1der: I was attempting to revert back to 3.3.5 stable of the downloader, from the beta 3.3.6

Fully uninstalled 3.3.6 and removed the folders in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\GOG.com
then ran the registry cleaner component of CCleaner

Installing 3.3.5 the new version notifier window launched, which I could not close/exit, so was forced back to beta 3.3.6

I did see 2 folders in the GOG.com_Downloader.exe_Url... folder - one for 3.3.5 and 3.3.6 both folders contained: user XML configuration file
It seems like issue with new engine of saving / loading user settings. I will take a look on it, thanks.

Moreover, I would like to see your log file, could you please upload it to any paste-bin like service?

New version is constantly crashing. I went back to 3.3.5 but it won't let me stay on it. It updates without asking.

My log:
http://pastebin.com/KXyiY2kV
Same here it 3.36 crashes once or twice a day.
Not only that but when I restart it - it insists on downloading again all games from scratch without recognising the data I have download it so far. I must have downloaded the same 24GB at least two or three times in the last couple of days.

I am trying to backup all my games. I have queued them all in the GOG Download manager without a problem.
The download starts without issues, however after a little time it crashes. It has happened twice so far.

The outcome so far has been:
* Down start
* Arrive to beneath a steel sky
* Crash
* Restart GOG manager
* It recognises that it has downloaded "Alone in the Dark" setup but no other file
* Start downloading again from the "Alone in the Dark" extras
* Arrive to Dragonsphere
* Crash
* Restart GOG manager
* It recognises that it has downloaded "Alone in the Dark" setup but no other file

If at the very least it understood how far it has downloaded it would not be so bad - but in this way it is really painful.

The log is at pastebin dot com / YPAPfBe2
Given that no matter what I do to the previous message for some reason the link keeps disappearing when I post the message

Kenshiro3: I have no idea where my log file is or how to create one. :(
Folder %localappdata%\GOG.com\
File logger.log

Type the folder's name in explorer, and it should take you to "C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\GOG.com", with possible differences due to OS localization, plus AppData is a hidden system folder.

[final edit] Lets see if the links work now [/edit]

I'm a grave shifter so bear with my off kilter time descriptions please.

Here is the log file to accompany my description:

[edit]http://pastebin.com/JY4Q6etq
Sorry, not allowed to post links yet apparently.[/edit]

Had woke up yesterday morning to an updated setup installer for one of the might and magics. So after restarting the downloader, which had crashed which had crashed while I was sleeping, I set it up to download the installer and the bonus material.

It correctly realized it already had all the bonuses and marked them as done almost immediately, but hung at the end of downloading the installer. I've never had many issues with download problems, with GOG's downloader, so I cleared out the finished bonus downloads and paused and then resumed the download of the installer to see if that would jog it back into shape and when it didn't seem to do anything, quit and restarted the downloader.

This seemed to have started it back up to working, so when it was finished I 'cleared' the finished download and went back to other stuff.

When I got up this 'morning', I noticed the downloader had crashed again and restarted it. Noticed that the Might and Magic installer was relisted to be downloaded, but it didn't seem to need to actually download anything. Noticed Dragonsphere had an update, started that download in the same manner as Might and Magic's update the previous day. No hang ups this time on the download, and when it finished I cleared all downloads again and restarted the downloader to see if either was going to return to the list the way the might and magic installer had. The download list remained clear.

As far as the crashes go, I can see nothing in the log regarding them other than the fact that the update check lines stop and a new 'startup' section starts once I notice the crash and restart the downloader. The actual dialog box is simply the Windows 'Something has gone wrong' dialog and only has two buttons a non-functional debug and a close.

On a whim, I just thought of checking the Window's Event log to see if the crash left any messages in there and this is the only one I can see:

[edit]http://pastebin.com/XePRkhRa
And apparently the forum parser doesn't like the formatting for the error log either.[/edit]

Of course, all that seems to indicate is that there was a stack overflow. Filtering the event log on errors, it seems pretty much the exact same error message (outside the time stamp) occurs on each crash.

Hope this helps in the debugging process.

TheMerricat: (lots of info)
Pretty much got the exact same problem. Win7 pro x64 as OS here. Too late today to pull my logs and events, but if another set would help I can probably post them tomorrow. As I'm out for work most of the day and exactly during this time would be able to let the downloader hog the little bandwith I got, it's kind of annoying having crash regularily shortly after I left the house. Hope you find that bug soon!
I don't know if any of you have this problem as I did, but the downloader's been running like absolute crap since 3.3.5.0. Trying to download anything more than several hundred megabytes large will bring my system to its knees, making everything crawl. I managed to work around this by limiting the number of connections to 1, and it seems to have helped greatly.

There's another problem I've encountered however: the downloader will download stuff for a minute or two, then halt; neither the download speed nor the download bar will budge for another minute or so. It makes the overall process slower than it should be. I haven't figured out a solution to this though.

For the record, I'm using Downloader 3.3.6.0, running on Windows XP SP3.

Love unconclusive observations... I have two computers, both running 3.3.6 beta, either on Win7 64-bit or WinXP SP3 32-bit. on Win7 the downloader works perfectly, but on WinXP it always crashes on start. (I only just now discovered that it runs fine if I start it manually.) Note that, for reasons unknown, XP installed to a drive it labelled G:, so I don't have a C:-drive. Gotta love Windows.

Anyway, the most interesting bit of the log file that does hold crash information looks like so:
[timestamp] Init ended
Clicked URL: -autostart
Message: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.
Stack trace: at System.Uri.CreateThis(String uri, Boolean dontEscape, UriKind uriKind)
at System.Uri..ctor(String uriString)
at GOGCompanionApp.AppWindow.AddDownload(String requestUrl) in C:\GOG Downloader\Stable\ GOG Downloader\AppWindow.xaml.cs:line 378
Inner exception:
[This is followed by the next attempted start.]

We are working on the fix, it shouldn't take a lot of time.
