jsjrodman: Don't worry, pause-resume is currently unreliable in general.

pickle136: At one time it was for me, at least enough to pause the download if I needed to do something else with my limited bandwidth.
But not being able to finish a download at all is a major issue,
This issue will be fixed in the new version of downloader.

crodgers: I see that sometimes the installer has a version number after it. Does this mean that sometimes I will get the "updated" items, but also be left with old, outdated files that should be deleted?
avatar
JMich: Yes. The downloader is only checking for the files it's trying to download, it won't check for any other files, no matter if they are called "setup_arcanum.exe", "folder.jpg", "widescreen mod.zip" or anything else. If the file isn't on the downloader's list, the downloader won't interact with it.
Correctly. Anyway, feature to perform hash check instead of name and size might be added in the next version.

Don't take this the wrong way, I know it's been crazy with the holidays and all, so I'm not trying to be impatient or incessant when I ask this, I just want to know.

I was wondering when we can expect an update to the downloader to address the issues documented in the past few weeks?

Thanks!

ollieboy123: hi there

i have downloaded a game but wen it CAME TO THE FINISH OF THE DOWLOAD IT STOPED AND JUST SAYES ITS STILL DOWNLOADING IT WHAT CAN I DO
1. Version 3.3.5.0
2. Windows 7 Home 64-bit
3. English
6. I have this same issue lately with the installers. They will download and then just stop without finishing. I can open the folder where they are downloaded to and run them to install the games so they are obviously fully downloaded. When I remove the installer from the queue, it will move on to the next download item but it will delete whatever was downloaded. This issue only started happening recently after the last time I updated the downloader. I never had this issue before that.

Update: This seems to only happen with games that are larger in size with 2 or more .bin files. Otherwise, they seem to download ok.

I have no trouble with downloading or installing, but it is no longer possible to pause or resume individual downloads. I can pause all, or resume all, but nothing individually. I cannot download multiple files simultaneously, so if I want to download a file further down the queue I have to drag it to the top.

Feature or bug?

The official downloader never supported multiple downloads at the same time (believe me, I tried time and time again). I can't recall whether it supported individual paused items though, but I think it didn't support this either.
Hopefully, those features will be added in a future version, but there are a few unofficial downloaders available in the forums in the meantime.

Karlallen: "Firefox can't find the file at gogdownloader://faster_than_light/p272."
avatar
JMich: This is a problem with Firefox having incorrect entries for the gogdownloader:// protocol. Go to Options->Applications, find gogdownloader and change action to the default one, should work. If that fails, remove the entry in firefox and reinstall the downloader.
Thanks :)

I checked the setting and it was set to the default function - I then clicked on the default function anyway and left the Options... It knows works :)

I experience this about 5-10% of the time also and found that exiting the GOG downloader and restarting it causes it to start downloading again and get past the hangup. Hope this helps.
1. Version 3.3.5.0 (stable)
2. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
3. Polish

a) I changed the target folder for downloads to C:\GOG.com but when I click on the download and choose "Show in folder" it still opens the C:\Users\(user)\Documents folder.
b) The progress bar on the Windows' pane (or whatever it is called) never reaches 100% even though all my downloads are completed.

Cheers!

Thanks for the ti[p. I will try that the next time I experience the problem.
Question, moreso than a bug / feature request: Why is there a "clear completed / finished downloads" button on the Windows side of the fence and there is NO such button on the Mac? Is that an interface issue, or is that going to be remedied in a future GOG Downloader update?
Can you guys provide a 32-bit version of the Mac OS X downloader? I have one of those early generation macs that serve as server / data storage. I would really love to get the downloader on that. Can you at least recompile it to run on 32-bit?

Please tell me if this is a possibility.

Tried looking at the "View - > Clear completed / failed downloads" option? (CTRL+C shortcut).

We're looking into the matter but can't promise anything at this time.

downloader 3.3.5.0
win7 64 home premium
English
Chrome Version 23.0.1271.97 m
attached logger.log as jpg because it wouldn't let me attach otherwise...

description of problems:
terribly inconsistent and fluctuating download rate: constantly changing between 20 kb/s and 1500 kb/s (not 100% sure this is due to the downloader but I've never seen it happen before). Pausing causes the program to stop responding for a few seconds, progress bar jumps back and forth, seems to keep going for 30 seconds or so even after the download has supposedly finished. Changing the default download location has no effect.

edit: tried downloading another game, this time without using the gog downloader and speeds were perfectly fine.

Thanks! The reason I thought that was considerable is that Good Old Games should, well, support good old computers as well. :P
