ReynardFox: It's bad enough that the alphanumeric sorting of titles in a series is a wreck, but can we at least have proper box art? You know like the real Wing Commander covers and different art to identify the regular and VGA editions of the Leisure Suit Larrys?
Will a significant number of customers buy less games here as a result of the low quality of the box art (or of the website in general)? I don't think so and I don't think GOG thinks so. Hence, why should they care?

Well, I will avoid buying games that come in many, many boxes. Granted, I'm just one person and I'm not exactly a massive consumer to begin, but still, there has to be other people out there like me. I can't be some sort of freak. =P

Honesly the box covers is just a low priority, alphabethical order however ..... i don't have enough words to express my disapointment ,.... in other words it's more important than the box covers. I don't say we shouldn't have decent box covers , but there are some priorities, also keep in mind they don't always have the original material to create those covers, so they have to start from scratch.

Why should they care? Pride of service.

In a professonal service like GOG, presentation matters, but stuff like the Larry's are a genuine annoyance... we have have multiple games in that series that have two versions, both of which have identical boxes. On top of looking plain lazy (And making GOG look lazy) A shelf should be quick and clear to navigate and this unbundling has made a total mess of that.

IAmSinistar: But you're overlooking the awesome job they've done on unbundled titles like The Great Battles. These just drip history.
Oh man, those covers are just so descriptive and diverse, the excitement just leaps off the shelf. I totally didn't need to squint to read the full titles either.

Looks inspired by the latest generic GOG avatars.

1) You post extensively on the forum. I believe that immediately makes you part of a minority. I am serious. Check the statistics about the 50 gamers listed as having the most games here as an example.

2) I don't think it's that easy to know before buying which games come unbundled. Yes, you could wait until Barry_Woodward buys the game and posts his library on the wiki, then check, but how many people would do that? Did you know that Hearts of Iron II comes unbundled into two parts?

3) You may not be a freak, but I haven't seen anyone else yet making the statement you made above.

Good point! Though they'd also need to Gaussian blur the Hell out of the avatars to render them this useless.

Wow, that's... who are these people? =P I've kind of figured we're in the minority and most consumers have no idea about the things that irk us about the site because they don't visit often enough to notice.

I've started asking in the promo threads how many pieces the games come in. Someone will always be nice enough to answer. I decided against buying Blitzkrieg 2 because I didn't want all those bit parts that get placed all over the library in no order whatsoever.

Well, I'm used to being the odd one out, so I'll survive. xD

Pride of service?

A website that seriously bungles up the first wave of unbundling, then does much the same on the second wave a month later, despite all that has been posted here?
A website that cannot bother to develop a half-decent forum search in seven years?
A website that blocks access to part of its own catalogue for 12 days?
A website that manipulates its own users' community wishlist?
A website that renounces all its core values, but one?

Well, there's still hope - perhaps the avatars will get enhanced when the new account system rolls out.

Come come now, it's not like GOG's in the habit of doing things that don't make sense to anyone but them...

From the looks of them, an Avatar Expansion Pass with exclusive outlines is the most we can expect.

You know how it is on GOG with these things - it's all or nth. Not sure if it applies to custom avatars though.
