Hi guys/gals,

Last year I started working on a High Res font mod for Deus Ex Invisible War.

Here is the initial release (version 1.0.1)

Note: Requires the Visible Upgrade mod. [Link]

Designed for 4K resolution, but works with lower res such as 1080p.

*** The Deus Ex series forum is mostly inactive, so I figured to mirror my initial post where people would see it. Feel free to leave feedback here, or in my main thread: https://www.gog.com/forum/deus_ex_series/deus_ex_2_high_res_fonts_by_djdarko

Neat! I'm always sad when an old game scales the HUD because it usually looks so low-res (and HUDs are usually too big anyway).

This looks fantastic, thank you for the hard work!

You're both welcome!

I will follow this up eventually with a v1.1 update, but I need some feedback first.

I need to know:

1.) Resolution - Does it look good on 1080p and other resolutions between 1080p and 4K? (see my screenshots above for comparision.
2.) Foreign Characters (ÁÂÃÄ) - I have not tested these at all, do they seem out of place with the other text?
**** Is it even possible to change the game to a different language other than English?
3.) General Fixes - "a" character is too close to "e" etc. Or "there is a strange blip next to every "i" character. etc.

scaled is still better than it renders it small and you need a magnifier and still low-res :P
Oh and hate when pixel games have pixeled font , that only makes it unreadable not a vital part of the design

Grab it when it's on sale, it's worth at least a couple bucks - especially with the mods now available.

Yes, it was made for Invisible War. Doesn't the original Deus Ex have a similar text enhancement as part of the New Vision pack? (Never really tested it to see.)

Since I think 90% of HUDs are too large, I like when it's much smaller than it should be.

GMDX has both texture mods and has better fonts/text from what i've seen so far.

If you ever do and finished the game once already, I highly recommend the GMDX mod....it adds the basic high res textures from the other mods and a bunch of improvements(sometimes I stay away from these but the ones added seem to fit the game and make it very enticing to play again).

I am using version 9.3(v9) and it blows away the original game, imo...stuff added includes: Perks(focused increases to skills for a few extra points), nicer texturing/lighting, some new added "set pieces" to some emptier areas(like a bot garage in the UNATCO HQ yard), some new weapon mods, etc.

Fair enough, though don't complain when you need glasses due to all the squinting. ;)

Out of curiosity I tried it but it doesn't seem to work at 1080p. The text in options disappear entirely, even names of the save files but I clicked randomly and then I loaded my game (just at the start). I moved over the original files inside the archive and the text appears again. I installed the Visible Upgrade mod before. Anything I should do? I don't have a 4K monitor so I can't compare to that but I suppose DSR kicks in if I try.

Edit: DSR didn't kick in but froze the game (but not audio).

Hi, thanks for the feedback!

Try using only the files from Step 1.

Ignore Step 2, keeping your original ".ini" files in place.
(Note, my zip includes a "_backup" folder with the untouched .ini backups, if you need them.)

It was your back up files I used which reminds me, are those original files for the game (patch 1.2?) or with the Visible Upgrade mod assuming if they change those specific files?

It seemed no difference between ignoring step 2 but I could see text (as opposed to invisible) with an extremely small font size.

Screenshots: With font mod and Without font mod

The backup .ini files are the untouched ones from the original GOG installation, which aren't related at all to the Visible Upgrade.

" It seemed no difference between ignoring step 2 but I could see text (as opposed to invisible) with an extremely small font size."

Is this in the screenshot? I see no text in the first image, and normal sized text in the other.

No, it's not. I will see if I can replicate that effect.

Edit: I don't seem to be able to. I was surprised even appeared because I have been switching with the back up files and the mod files back and forth to see if anything changed.
