No problem, the developers of Exult have made it simple enough. There is just too much hacky information floating around the internet, which can cause confusion.

Next time you have a question you should mark the topic as such when creating it and then mark the answer as an answer. That way the topic will be marked as answered and a link to the answer will be added to the first post. Then, when someone comes across it in the future they will see that the problem has been solved and be redirected to the solution.

There is no way to do that now, but you could manually edit your post to contain my steps if you want to. And while I'm at it, there is a sticky thread in the Ultima sub-forum with many useful links for the entire series:

hey there, could you post what your exult folder looks like? I copied and pasted the entire folder of the games into their respective folders. Must have done something wrong since it is not working. Thanks!

Sure. I have attached a screenshot, and here is my directory listing (one level deep) in text form. Don't blame me if the formatting is off, these forums need a [code] tag :) Ignore the "data" directory, that one is created and maintained by Exult. The path to the Exult directory is "/Library/Application Support/Exult", note that it's an absolute path from the top-level directory, not a path from your user directory (those start with "~/" instead).

The bxlaunch.bat file is from GOG, it is not part of the original game. You can tell which files are from the game by the fact that they use all-capital letters, they were intended to run on DOS. GOG often adds some extra stuff to make the games work out of the box on DOSBox. Having the bxlaunch.bat in there won't hurt, so I never bothered removing the non-DOS files.
I know this thread is a bit old. Sorry guys. I just picked up a new Macbook Pro running OS Sierra and I'm having trouble finding all the contents of the blackgate files from GOG to place in the Blackgate exult folder I created. Could anyone help? I been scouring this thread and I must be missing something. I really wanan get exult running. Thank you in advance.
I figured it out! Never mind lol :)
