ConsulCaesar: Clicking the clear all notifications button under the bell icon still does the trick for me. Of course, you need to wait until you have a notification. You can always ask someone to send you a PM. Also adding any game on sale to your wishlist will trigger a notification.
Works nicely for me as well.

Ohh, the same happened to me. I had a notification in the bell, clicked clear all and it disappeared. The dot came back, but also the notification in the bell, so at least I can click on clear all again :-D

So far, the moment I get another replay or anything that triggers THE dot, it stays for good. I can clear it with the command, but would have to do it every time now :/

Got the issue (twice now) and got it fixed (twice) with the command from OP, in Opera browser.

Also, I don't see the "Clear All Notifications" button under the bell icon.

Does anyone have a screenshot?

Does it only appear upon receiving a notification?

If you click on the bell, it will appear. Possibly you will need a notification there.

Dammit. Looks like I too have joined the club. Such a pretty color yet such an annoying presence! Hope it goes away soon...

You take the blue pill, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

The purple dot is extra annoying as the top of GOG page is in grayscale, the extra color makes it super noticeable

Yeah, this doesn't work for this new bug.

The problem this thread was solving was the one where you had a notification from a thread or post that didn't exist any more. This new bug seems to be affecting threads and posts that still exist and the solution in this thread only solves it temporarily.

I'm still getting ghost notifications for topics I've already read, including one that tells me I have four unread replies in a mafia thread. Every new actual reply I get in there increases the number, but viewing them doesn't reduce the number.
