You've been (very) naughty. Time to be nice!

We've conquered Europe, slaughtered countless soldiers that were silly enough to stand in our way, and razed enemy settlements to the ground. Now it's time to leave these well-meaning activities behind for a moment and let the spirit of Christmas warm our bloodthirsty hearts.

As it happens, 17th century Santa just dropped us a neat gift for the occasion. Let's see what treats are inside:

- A new mission: Santa's reindeer are in peril and you're the only one who can rescue them and put Christmas back on track.
- Look out for christmas trees in your map and for peasants holding holiday-colored bags. Cute!
- The main menu, UI, and some in-game tweaks give the game a more festive and snowy ambiance to put you right in the mood.

If you haven't yet tried Cossacks 3, now is the best time to give it a whirl. Not only do the holidays provide enough time to establish your rule over Europe but they've brought some nice surprises with them as well!
"Once you see it, you cannot unsee it..." :)

Sounds funny enough, but I thought Cossacks is a serious videogame depicting past but not forgotten battles. In my opinion, an official patch like this may take out some of the mood it tries to build.

I agree completely, if its a comical game that's fine but I hate to see this kind of thing in a serious historic game, MMO's these days try and bring in some kind of festival to justify it and yes it works in some but a game like SWTOR for example its pretty pathetic.

I can see the rebellion quaking as the mighty Sith Sorcerer rides past on his speeder decked in Fairy Lights dragging Christmas presents behind it and making sleigh bell sounds.

boldee: in a serious historic game
What makes you think this is a serious historical game?
Yes it is suppose to be a serious game. IMO there efforts would be better spent fixing the serious bugs and balances that plague this game currently then adding in a silly novelty.
Why not Ho-ho-ho?
<Moves Cossacks 3 to bottom priority on wishlist>

I don't think they were loved enough as children. Possibly all naughty.

Agreed.

And heck, it's not like this is the first game to do something like this. Playing Operation Flashpoint on Christmas many of the trees are replaced with Christmas trees with presents next to them and I've never seen anyone complain about it even though the game is as "serious" as it gets. People really need to lighten up. I for one think it's a fun gesture.
Thanks for the update GSC. Happy new years!

At the risk of pushing the whole collector and completionist thing a bit far, that was my initial reaction too :D
Will there be a way of triggering these after Christmas, or will they be patched out again?
