sanscript: Only a twisted and brainwashed mind, susceptible to propaganda would actually believe that. You do realize that the reason as to why the world thinks American politics are a joke is because some are twisting the reality, and too many are following? Can you really separate politics from religion?

Besides, when you just dump a link like that you instantly tells everyone that you are part of the problem...

Years_of_Chaos: You have a twisted and brainwashed mind.
You have that 50% right - I'm considered twisted but not brainwashed ;P

PS: That actually resembles the same basic principles as in those witch hunts all those years ago; Make up something or twist it, demonize the opponents, light the fire under the people, and then strike with noise...

pearnon: You still don't get it. You don't get how much bigger than two figures this all was about, and how both perfectly - perfectly - embodied that conflict
Do you have a decent article that discusses this particular issue?
I slept a bit over the recent US presidential election and I now think I know what it is that buggers me most: it's populism and the people who fall for it every now and again.

I just hate populists, I really hate them with all my heart. It's so clear that Trump cannot and actually doesn't intend to deliver anything good he may have promised and his statements were in general so simple and not well-thought out that there is plenty of chance to fuck up (e.g. only reducing the taxes of the rich and abolishing health care and leaving it at that). People still choose him, which is only understandable to me if I assume that the voters felt quite a lot adventurous last tuesday. This is something I don't like at all and I think is a danger to everyone. I think I would have even much less problems with someone like Ted Cruz as president because I think he probably would have reigned based more on values which I could understand even if I don't share them.

But letting out a huge stream of disgusting statements during the candidacy and unfortunately having the media repeating every profanity over and over again and still people liking him for it, that is too much for me to bear. I really, really hate populists (left or right) that's why I need to use such drastic words. Nothing good ever comes out of them getting elected.

I'm totally convinced of that the poor Americans will get poorer and the rich Americans will get richer in the next years not despite but because of Trump being elected. If this wouldn't be so sad it might be a moment of satisfaction in four years, but I guess it will be much more a moment of pity.

So, let's wait and see what "good" comes out of the Republicans free reign with Trump on top. Did they look Hillary up yet? Has building the great wall started already? Has NATO or universal health care (death panels I tell you) already been abolished?

They do. https://twitter.com/Jaaezus/status/796417669222141952

The thing is that leaders always set examples. If the elected president does it, so can you. Racism can thrive when coming from the top. Doesn't have to though. There might be enough decent people around. To be fair, already four years ago some people expressed their dismay at "that nigger" being elected again. The difference to now is that this time they can feel morally right having a majority of the electoral college behind them. So some more might feel encouraged.

I guess you can't expect more from people who have been zombified, and thinks it's modern and civilized to use profanity, threats and kindergarten-mentallity to beat others. They both fought like a child would and many of the people liked it - because it was already an accepted social act.

Yes, more than often, a leader sets examples, but it also tells a lot about those who elected him/her/them...

Where exactly did I generalize?
Hey we survive 8 years of crazy Barkie and Hillary I think we will do fine with Trump. America needs to get back to capitalism and leave that socialism junk to other countries.

I work with mostly blacks and see stuff like this from all sides yet nobody dies or ends up dead. The reality is if you have many different types of people you are going to see stuff like this.

Yes, the same thing happens in everything we do and experience something negative. But it's not racism to say that "I don't like that behavior or criminal act". Many people that do this comes from the poor side of the society, and according to research it's mostly immigrants, like here in Norway. There's nothing racistic about that.

The racism card is being used on everything. Besides, I don't believe in different races - there aren't enough DNA differences for that.

Criminal act? What are immigrants in Norway doing?

Race exists regardless of what we think.

We just have to agree to disagree on that :D
