No prob. Somebody should probably find the actual source though.

Their FAQ answer regarding a GOG release has been updated:

"Q: I want to buy the game on GoG, DRM-free.
A: [Updated] We're talking with GoG to bring the game to their platform. We'll make an announcement when it's available."

Vythonaut: This looks like Legend of Grimrock. Too much. Maybe this was the reason it hasn't sold well? Or maybe it's price since LoG are priced similarly (outside of sales of course). Anyway, voted! You can't have enough dungeon crawlers, can you? :)
That was my first thought, too. Legend of Grimrock was there first, is more widely known, probably looks a bit better (but pretty close to this) and costs less. That's not to say I wouldn't buy and play this, but only in a sale, I guess, not for 20 EUR, and only once I'm done with the Grimrock titles (which come with an editor and allow to play custom levels on top of it).

What looks interesting (because different) about it, is that it seems to offer lots of special abilities or spells accessible via quickslots. I haven't seen this in an old-school grid-based dungeon crawler yet, only in modern action RPGs.
I just wish I could see some sort of logical sense and consistency in their policies. The GOG catalogue has plenty of games that are more niche and seem like a worse match for the site than this. And why not accept this if Grimrock was okay? I've seen Grimrock in their bestseller list more than once.

I know GOG has every right to choose their own lineup, even for arbitrary reasons. It's just so frustrating to me that their pair of dice has in some cases decided if some good games are available DRM-free or not. I'm glad this particular dev is also offering a DRM-free copy on his site, but in some cases it's Steam or bust.

Hello,

I'm the author of the Fall of the Dungeon Guardians. (proof, for our conspirationist friends => steamcommunity.com/app/409450/discussions/0/492379439675344148/ ;-) )

Thanks to people who have voted on the GOG wishlist, I surely hope it'll help ! :-)

However, even if I'm not sure of how GOG made their decision, DG is a bit more niche than other Dungeon Crawlers, because it's actually a tactical combat game merged with a Dungeon Crawler ; ie: players who don't like to use their brains for their fight won't enjoy the game to its fullest.
People who do usually prefer Dungeon Guardians over Grimrock, though.

@Vythonaut,
LOG1 was released in 2012, before the Indie apocalypse and its 150-200 new games released monthly on Steam. It made to the best sell spot on Steam.
LOG2 was released last year and it fared way less well, although still much better than Dungeon Guardians. :)

@mindblast,
TE2013 was released on March 2015 on Steam, so a bit less than 9 months ago. And I can't complain about its sales as it's actually a very old game with a low budget.
So far Dungeon Guardians is selling almost 3 times better than TE2013, but I have no idea if it'll last or not, so it stresses me a bit, especially as a lot more effort went into it than in TE2013...

@Maxvorstadt,
it'd be an excuse for what ? I think I'm not authorized to copy/paste their answer (they ask for discretion), so I rephrased a bit what they told me, but I didn't change the meaning.

@Leroux,
DG is pricier than LOG1, but cheaper than LOG2 (ie: 20€ vs 15€ & 22€), while DG requires about the same number of hours to finish than LOG2, with about the same world size, a bigger bestiary but significantly less environments, and more re-playability if you dig the combat system.

Welcome to the forums :-)

I have 2 small questions please:

Does the ManaGames version come with a separate installer for each OS?
Are you using your own engine for this game or a premade one (Unity, Unreal etc)?

I hope GOG reconsiders your game as it looks really well made, regardless of the outcome this is a game I won't pass up.
@Ganni1987,
1- yes, there are 3 different installers for the MG version. (NSIS for Windows, standard .PKG for OSX, and simple .zip for Linux).

2- I'm using the Unity engine ; it already took me long enough like this, and low level development & maintenance gets old after a while... ;-)
Voted.

Gog has been trying to much to be Steam-lite lately.
Needs more niche games and hard-core older games, or games inspired by hardcore older games :).

EDIT: Would have bought it from the website, but wtf is this shit? Pic related in attachment

It's great to have you here! I appreciated your honest and open blog. It was very neat to see inside your mind and your work.

I hope you make it over here. Your game looks like a GOG through and through. I can't wait to play it!

PaterAlf: It really looks like a great game and I would buy it without any doubt.

Unfortunately there are only 13 votes on the wishlist. People should vote to tell GOG that we want this game.

I'd be interested, too. And the wishlist has gone from 13 to nearly 60 votes in only 19 hours, so it might just be a matter of getting the word out.
@dewtech,
I'm not sure but I guess you have an issue with the parity between US$ & Euros ?
Right now, 1 Eur is 1.08 US$, so it's pretty close, but you also have to count for 20% for the EU VAT, so actually, EUR sales bring me less money for US$ ones.

@Tallima,
thanks. I wondered if anyone was reading my blog except bots... :-p
Voted.

It looks to me like all of the frustrations surrounding the acceptance of games, points to an Activision/EA-style acceptance policy rooted more in mass-market appeal than any attempt at promoting good quality games that honor the spirit of GOG's traditional market and fanbase.

It's a shame. We'll likely see more quality indie titles only after we get a significant amount of support for them shown among the forum users.

If you want to bring your game regionally priced here, you can scratch my vote from the wishlist. I'm not going to support such an arbitrary pricing model. I would be fine with base price + VAT, but a simple 1$=1€ is not acceptable for me.
