BanditKeith2: ...Far Cry 3 blood dragon atleast regularly hanges for some time before allowing one to play...
Ubi did it the lazy corpo lame way as always. It was their golden opportunity to address the hangs with a patch/fix, that arose from them turning off the servers back then. Instead they've doubled down on forcing their 3rd party drm neo-uplay of sorts (ubi connect or whatever). The game files themselves weren't updated for years now. Achievements were always part of the code, though they were always handled via the feedback loop of their 3rd party client, old and new.

Anyway, if you want to get rid of 2 types of hangs, launch the game with -offline parameter and before that, hexedit 2 dll files. You can download them from web already edited, though while convenient it might be potentially unsafe.
Anyway, instructions from pcgaming wiki:

Go to <path-to-game>\bin.
Open the two files FC3.dll and FC3_d3d11.dll with a hex editor. HxD is a popular option for Windows-based operating systems.
Search for the hex-values FF 89 43 0C 85 C0 74 30 83 EC as well as 8B 53 0C 85 D2 74 30 33 C9 in both of the files.
Replace the hexadecimal code 74 with EB at both of the locations in each of the two files.
Save your changes.

Hope it helps.

Edit: P.S. I was wrong about the spring sale prediction earlier on. T'was just a very warm day ahead which I felt in my bones.

solseb: Hi Catherine. Your wishes alerts here: https://www.gog.com/en/account/settings/subscriptions. Or I don't really know.

Why do we always wait until Steam finishes eating? x D
That’s just how it goes! It’s always fun to watch this race unfold! Thank you for your help!

KateWilson_86: Hey folks, I’m new here! How does GOG let you know when a game from your dream list goes on sale? Didn’t get a heads-up for mine—did I miss something?
avatar
g2222: You mean your personal wishlist? You can find an option for wishlist alerts in your account settings. I think they send emails unless blocked by spam control, lol.

The dreamlist is something else. More like a marketing tool; full of games that aren't on GOG yet and probably never will be.
Wait, that’s a marketing thing? I just saw they’re calling the wishlist a dreamlist now—gotta check that out again, thanks! But the emails? That’s what threw me off. I was waiting for Anima Flux game discount, and if I didn’t hop on the site myself, I’d have totally missed it!
It is likely the last day now before the spring sale, any last minute predictions? I'm going to take a swing and guess that the Square Enix publisher promo is a warm-up for Square Enix to release a new game here on GOG. Maybe not the likeliest, the last Square releases were the Kane & Lynch series in 2022. But there has been practically no stand-alone Square Enix publisher sale since then and it is the only promo that lasts into next week. So my guess is that it is a sign that something new will be released.

I think, the Square Enix sale was originally created by the publisher for the Steam Spring Sale but also brought to other shops and platforms where possible. It's certainly easier & cheaper to do all marketing cross-platform.

edit: credit to the person who linked me to the announcement in Discord
from the official GOG Discord: Spring Sale on GOG will begin tomorrow! The event will run from March 19, 2025 10:00 AM until April 3, 2025 3:00 AM! It's a huge sale with around 7,000 discounts, including plenty of all-time highs! Plus, we'll have a giveaway of a classic and some exciting GOG Preservation Program news during the event! (what is the time zone?)

I don't think we'll get any major exciting releases, but the Preservation Program news could be cool (if it's for a Capcom game, I predict Breath of Fire IV). Giveaways don't interest me personally, but they seem to work out well for GOG.

That is the likelier answer, although my hopes have not disappeared quite yet.

Thanks! And pending of all of these ATHD (all time high discounts) and the classic giveaway.
Plus the highly anticipated next 2 installments in the popular Far Cry franchise and a Need for Speed classics bundle for GOG's racing enthusiasts!
My prediction is that "Horizon: Zero Dawn" won't get a discount even if the other Sony games do.
And neither does "Terminator: Resistance".

I'll be glad if I'm wrong.
