Hi folks!

I'm currently trying to download The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt via GOG Galaxy ...
The download speed however is crawling slow ...
I have a 75mbit/s connection, yet the client only downloads with 0.1mbit/s. I did a speedtest to see whether my connection is crapy, but nope - 75mbit/s as it is supposed to be...

I live in Austria - don't know where the GOG Servers are located...

Anybody else experiencing extremely slow download speeds or is it just because the download for W3 became available recently?

Best wishes!

EDIT:
Just out of curiosity I would love to know what speeds other people get after minimizing the client.
You have to click the X at the upper right corner to minimize the program to the notification section of the task bar.
about 10 minutes later maximize the window and quickly look at the download speeds.

I noticed that whenever the client is minimized download speeds rise, maximizing the window reduces speeds ...
Would be nice if other people could take a look at that too.

I've seen a couple different people say this... seems to be an issue right now.
I've got the same problem 0.1MB/s on 150Mb/s connection.
lucky us - eh -that there are still 8 days to download the game :D
Could it be that everyone who ordered from GOG is pre-loading it now, and the amount of people downloading is doing a "hug of death" to GOG's servers?

Since we have a lot of users who downloaded the game already, few things I'd suggest checking
- see if decreasing number of download threads helps (it's in the app settings). You may have to wait up to 10 minutes to see result
- check if temporarily quitting your antivirus or firewall helps (or whitelisting *.edgecastcdn.net)

It might also be the case that the file simple didn't propagate well enough in your region yet. For a file this big it takes a moment. Feel free to run ping and tracert to cdn.gog.com and post results here. We will know which edge server are you likely getting the file from and investigate further.
I am also facing the same issue, very slow changes from 0.1 - 0.3mb tops.

I will change downloads threads from 10 to 5 and let you know if there is an improvement

So at 5 threads it went as high as 3mb but then back to 0.2 will try at 2 threads.

I can confirm lowering number of threads made no difference. Guess we will be leaving the computer on for the next 8 days straight.

Download seems to be stuck for me at the moment with 0.0 MB/s despite reducing the number of concurrent connections, here are my ping and tracert results, my internet speed is not that great though just to be clear its only a 2 MB connection.

I am seeing the same issue here in the UK. Very slow download speeds of ~0.1-0.8 MB/s. As a test I lowered the number of download threads to 1 and turned off my anti-virus, these did not help.

If i download file from gog directly than through client, can I load to client for future auto update. (am only getting <.1mbp through client).

ltron: I've got the same problem 0.1MB/s on 150Mb/s connection.
Same here, 0.1 (sometimes 0.0 MB/s). I've tried cancelling and restarting the download, have configured the *.edgecastcdn.net as an exception in Kaspersky Internet Security, tried lowering the amount of threads, tried different storage locations (usually download to HDD, install on SSD, but doesn't matter if I download to SSD or HDD, and whether or not the down

Connection: 100Mb/s up/down (fiberglass).

With steam usually get ~11 MB/s down (MB, not Mb ;) )

This is NOT a distribution problem at all. It's an issue with the Galaxy Beta Client.

Check out my reply at in the W3:WH forum. Meanwhile I'd suggest that people having problems use the GoG Downloader.

I have a 80mb connection.
Adjusting the download threads didn't help.

Next I'm going to reduce the number of connections from 10 to 1...

I've also noticed when I maximize Galaxy I can see download speeds up to 2.5MB/s for about 1 sec, then it goes down to 0.1mb/s ... as if it slows down as soon as the program is running in front.

Edit: Just a little update - with only 1 connection set i get up to 4mb/s - BUT ONLY when Galaxy runs minimized ^^ as soon as i maximize the window download speeds go down to 0.1mb/s ^^
