2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Gurlok: I don't get triggered so easily, usually.

For the love of the heaven, at least put an option to DISABLE FRIENDS SUGGESTION AND FB LOGIN.
I'm not sure why you would need a way to disable FB login, you disable it by not using it. Simple as that really.

As far as friends suggestion, I do wonder if this respects the privacy setting under account managment for "searching for me"? If that is disabled then in theory hopefully you won't be added to suggestions.

Seems that the FB suggestion got stuck for a while, it disappeared once I removed all friends suggestion though, hence the reason fro me sayign that.

As long it does reappear anymore i don't care.

But the friends suggestion is still an issue, for me.

BKGaming: Cool but I kind of wish it was laid out differently. The Facebook connect button should probably be under settings with a dedicated connect account tab (this will allow a place for future account connections) like perhaps twitch or something down the road.
We're considering a settings section for that.

BKGaming: Also am not crazy about the friend suggestions being at the bottom of the friends list were friend invites end up nor about it being yet another pop up. But I'm not exactly sure what to do about it. Maybe have it as an attached window to the site of the friends list or something that is collapsible?
You can collapse the friends suggestions in Friends window and it will remember your choice. If you click to ignore/accept all of them, the "accordion" will disappear.

It's a totally different group (and competence) of people that were working on fb login, than issues you've mentioned.

Pawel1995: FB login feels really unnecessary and not needed AT ALL at this moment of Galaxy's development.

Also I feel like either someone at GOG is trolling or they missed the hole "Facebook stores even more than you would"-news that popped up 2 days ago. I mean, I don't want to give you tips, GOG, but that's not how you do it :D If you hear about companies doing whatever they want with user's private information, it's not a good idea to patch a "connect" feature with that service 2 days later xD
Yeah, the timing is great - we're trying to be as funny as we can. :P

JK. For the feature, we're making logging/registering account easier for some users that want to use it. Actually here, you're giving GOG data from Facebook, not the other way around. It's also optional - you don't need to give permissions neither to your e-mail (you can type it later), nor to your friends list (you just won't get suggestions). You can use it just to log in, or not use it at all. :)

--

The thing I'm mostly hyped with is friends suggestions from your (2 or more) common friends from GOG itself. :)

--

btw. (my private opinion) I'm not surprised at all that FB is collecting shitloads of data (it's visible in permissions you give and in network traffic on websites) for their algothythms to use the data to make money from advertisement or targeted content. You can block it if you wish and everything still works.

I have 240 suggestions. This is like game within itself.

PS: *cough* we need profiles *cough*

Unfortunately this other group then seems to be quite slow in fixing the issues they are responsible for. I doubt that it would be so hard to fix at least the optical things.

Neither am I. I was actually investigating the behavior of facebook with a group of other students for the university a year ago and we didn't learn much, because it's already quite known that facebook tries to collect as much as possible.

For an "average fb user" it might not be clear (because most of them don't read stuff, simply click OK/I accept), but that's rather their problem.

The reason why it hit the news, was because it also collected data that was not mentioned directly in any permission setting, for example conversations, call lists that you had on your smartphone, even though it is neither connected with the facbook app, nor SHOULD It be in the first place (people actually debate right now, if that's breaking privacy laws).

That's all not my point though. I just wanted to say that my opinion is: It's always bad to push updates like that, when something like that is in the news. It doesn't matter if you add a dislaimer that says "Hey, but actually you don't have to worry." or explain what exactly happens with someone's data.

Also for most people it was probably a surprise, because there are so many things to improve in gog Galaxy right now (UI, chat messages not visible, notifications missing, a lack of permanent fps function, more stables servers) but instead we get a facebook connect feature :D

I think what people should remember though is the facebook stuff is using the facebook API which means it was probably not that difficult or time consuming to add. The real work was on friend suggestions and that is a pretty cool feature and I can totally see why they connected facebook to that... it makes sense.

People should also remember different teams work on different things...

Do you mind elaborating on this a bit more?

Given what I have seen of FB integration tools, I'm extremely surprised that they gave GOG a one-way-street data stream direction.

Is the authentication request handled by GOG server, or is it client-side communication with Facebook's authentication server? Are the UI elements that usually are hosted on Facebook's servers (and used even for harvesting information from non-users visiting sites with FB's "social integration" widgets via "shadow profiles"), or hosted by GOG?

And yet a while ago I, along with others, had to get really upset on the boards for GOG to remove Amazon's scripts that were blocking log-in altogether.

Even right now I am frequently blocked from loging into my account on GOG page by Google's CAPTCHA - something that is really starting to annoy me, since it seems to trigger at random intervals of give or take 24-48 hours, only to disappear at similar time later when not completed.

If you are aware of the privacy issues coming from Facebook use, why is GOG not giving similar attention to its own store page and ensuring it can run without third-party scripts (much less data-mining elements from the known offenders)?

For crying out loud, GOG's own Privacy Policy is brick-walled by third-party scripts. On a page that has both Google's and Amazon's scripts running (and I'm sure you know just how much data those scripts are pulling from each visitor).

GOG began as a "consumer-oriented" company, and you cut out a not-insignificant part of market share by being the best in quite a few areas. Why not extend this effort toward ensuring user's privacy (something that GDPR is going to require you to adjust to anyway, at least partially)?

Johny.: Can you elaborate on that? :)
I mean I won't go into details for sure, because many people reported bugs, wishes and gave feedback all over the web. GOG's forum + Galaxy wishlist is full with peoples opinion. Also as a quite active user on Gwent's/GOG's subreddit, I see complains about something not working in GOG Galaxy at least once a week (mostly on r/gwent though).

I can name you a few examples though:

* People don't always get "invite" notifications, when a friend wants to play VS them in Gwent.
* Messages don't always pop up when your friend starts a game/comes online (Sometimes like 3+ notifications pop up with a delay, a few minutes later, while the triggering event happened already in the past)
* What I meant with UI: I mean mostly the "Overlay" UI when in-game. On some resolutions it's really messy, since the message+game-page+friend list+... -boxes are on top of each other and have to be moved around. Also in general (all resolutions) it's not really user friendly. I mean, we don't have to go very far. Just look at Steam's overlay and compare how clean that looks in comparison. Not even talking about the "smaller" issues of UX like no fps counter that ALWAYS stays on, instead the user has to try/guess a key combo. What was it again? Alt+Tab+Ctrl? xD Oh right, you can see the complicated key combo on the bottom of the overlay. How do I get the overlay again? (:D)

I hope that helps :D Kinda sad that I wrote so much again, after all, all these things were mentioned several times in the near past already.

I agree, that should really be clear to everyone, but imo it's the best way to express your opinion, by writing it on social media/this forum. GOG has to figure out on it's own what team should do what.

I don't want to know the name of the person that coded the facebook-friend connection feature, but instead I want to explain to the whole gog dev team, that I think they should focus on more important stuff . I mean, the (sub-)team that WORKED ON that, surely has other things on their to-do list, too. No? :D

I just found out that STEAM now only offers TWO HOURS of gameplay for refunds.
WHAT????
Since WHEN?

The last time I heard it was 30 days no qeustions asked.

I know GOG offers 14 days no quesiotns asked.

I rarely buy games from STEAM. I wrote them and told them there's NO way to adequately review and test a game with just 2 hours of a gameplay.

Does anyone else think that's INSANE????

It's off topic but anyway.
1) It was always only 2 hours nothing changed. (And it's good because otherwise people would abuse this possibility even more. The refund possibility was never meant to give people the opportunity to review a game but to make sure it actually works).
2) 14 days refund on GOG is only true if you haven't downloaded the game.
3) 30 days refund on GOG is about the fact that they guarantee you to get your game to work within 30 days or you will get your money back (stated on the opening site).

On Topic:
Just noticed the following when trying to uninstall a game in Galaxy (see attachement)

BKGaming: People should also remember different teams work on different things...
And how on earth should "people" have known about this?
btw: It does not change my complaint a bit. Galaxy looks ugly - several people complained and asked for a simple fix. Nothing happened.

Hi,

Since 2 days Galaxy wants to update itself but fail each time.
I try in safe mode but it does not resolve.

A pop up propose to DL manually here : https://www.gog.com/galaxy

But the version in the button link is not the last one wich try to install.
https://content-system.gog.com/open_link/download?path=/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_1.2.39.53.exe
Versus 1.2.40
so I can't reinstall it manually as it says I already have the same or older version.

I find nothing about that update problem here. The Galaxy support section is in no help either.
https://support.gog.com/hc/fr/categories/201553025

Am I the only user impacted ? Where should I find more specific related discussion ?
Thank you.

I don't see the answer here. Why can't I access my GOG library from within Galaxy? I cannot see anywhere where I am able to install a game in my library using Galaxy as the installer.
