== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Niggles: Im one of those who never tried the beta - can i use two different installed locations for games? (current split over two different partitions), also is there no way to disable the auto update once which recent changelog says will happen on adding a game to Galaxy? Some of those games has GB of data......
avatar
skeletonbow: Galaxy only allows you to preconfigure a single default location for your game installations, but when you go to install a game it lets you choose whether to use the default location you've preconfigured or change it by browsing to a particular location on your system, so you can install games in as many places as you like.

Hopefully they'll improve it in the future to allow the pre-configuration of multiple directory locations so you can choose from one of several predetermined directories or the browse button. That'd add a bit more user-friendliness also. :)

You can disable auto-updates globally or per-game. The former is new to 1.2.x.
Cheers for that. When i mean auto update, unless i read wrong, the game will auto update at least once, once its added or installed via galaxy - is this avoidable?.
Also, like many i like keeping a backup of the downloaded installer -- browsing through the thread, is it correct to assume the downloaded file is stored in same folder as the game that is installed off it?.
It does seem from comments 1.x of galaxy is the better option...?
Trying to verify/repair Legend of Hero's Trails in The Sky and I keep getting a constant "SERVER PROBLEM" message. So I tried to download a separate game, and it downloaded and installed fine. Looking through the logs shows this:

Any ideas why I am getting a server issue with what seems to be this one particular game?

EDIT: Seems like uninstalling it and then re-importing the folder fixed it. That or someone fixed it on the server end.

Nevermind it seemed to be a temporary glitch - working again.

So I managed to fix my issue:

I hit the install button and then looked at the file name of the galaxy installation compared to the stand alone installation name, noticed it said "Full Spectrum Warrior - Ten Hammers" instead of "Full Spectrum Warrior Ten Hammers", aborted the download, renamed the folder, and hit install again.

Poof, a 2.5GB download turned into 4MB :)

No, as I said you can disable auto-updates globally now and no game will ever be auto-updated ever, unless there is a bug in Galaxy.

Yes, Galaxy 1.2 stores your game downloads scattered all over the disk where you actually install your games in and gives you no option whatsoever to configure where the games get downloaded to. "Optional" doesn't apply here, you'll get it downloaded to where GOG decides for you, whether you like it or not. :) So if like me, it matters to you - you will have to use some other program to download your games from now on such as Firefox or Chrome or gogrepo.py or something else. There are no customer friendly downloading options from GOG at the present time, we'll have to wait and see if they decide to change this in the future, or wait for someone to build a 3rd party client that has more configuration options I guess.
I ranted a bit earlier about the Install/download path in the latest beta and here's another rant regarding that....
Is Galaxy seriously downloading the installers and game extras to the location were the game is installed....

I have the Install path/Download path in Galaxy set to <E:/GOG Games> so I easily can download extras to the same location except the annoying !Downloads folder that Galaxy insists on creating for every darn didily game. So when I'm installing a game I'm setting the path just for that game manually. But now when I downloaded the installer and some extras for a game that I allready have installed, the stuff got downloaded to the same freaking location where the game is installed.
It's a complete mess now in the latest beta. Guess I'll have to go back one version were you could have one Install path and one download path.

EDIT:
I see someone asked about this just before me ;D

In fact this has been talked about several times which makes me whonder why GOG has not told us if they plan to change it back. - just to calm the waves.

This has been a known issue for a while (pretty much since alpha) and I doubt it will ever be fixed since that would probably require mapping out all the different folder names that have been used over the years. Like you I just manually renamed the folder when this occurred.

Yep, welcome to braindead download hell. Perhaps it is possible to write a custom DLL that overrides some Windows system DLL looking for Galaxy trying to create "!Download" directories and redirects them to a location of one's choosing instead. Because FPITA.
Hello, just wanted to assure if this works as intended before creating a bug report.

I am playing Baldur's Gate EE, the little overlay box pops up and tells me to press shift+tab. When I press that, nothing happens.

Also, everytime I alt+tab the game to check my browser and go back to the game (I am playing on fullscreen) the overlay pops up again, as if I launched the game. The steam overlay doesn't have this behavior so that is why I am asking if this works as intended.

Yeah I actually remember having to do something like this years ago, just figured it would've been addressed along the way.

Also it was an installer downloaded through Galaxy itself just a couple days ago. Really should've been compatible.

Bug report created, hope is not difficult to solve.
Hmm, Galaxy has spontaneously stopped working. Today when I tried to start it I got "Failed to load game database.". Haven't updated or otherwise knowingly changed the installation, just suddenly won't work. There's no "repair installation" option as far as I can find and running the installer just tells me I already have this version. Any suggestions other than uninstalling the whole thing (which I'm hoping to avoid).

I would suggest trying this, because it seems to be the solution for incompatible databases. I would suggest to simply rename the folder or at least backup it.
