1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

I agree, if GOG Galaxy is not wildly used is because is not ready yet.

This is like saying that smartphones couldn't be a thing in 2006 before good quality hardware and touch screens became available and cheap.

GOG Galaxy is going to be successfull, but it's got to be ready first.

Long development times are only killing the hype.

Please finish the basic functions at least:

- A decent chat
- A Profile
- More achievements

From the decades of my computer use, programming, and helping others learn how to use or program, I totally disagree. Otherwise operating systems wouldn't need applications, there wouldn't be such a thing as plug-ins for applications, and OSes and applications would never need new features. Personal needs always change, and each individual's needs or desires doesn't necessarily match with anyone else's, let alone everyone else's.

Whatever GOG is making, it is not a "right" for anybody else. They don't have to do anything like that (f.e. make Galaxy), they aren't obligated. They could shutdown if they wanted to, go do something else with their lives, maybe retire. If Galaxy ever has another update or its version increases (and BTW, it could be 2.0, or anything, it doesn't have to be 1.2), or its completely ditched and something else entirely is proffered, then that is simply another opportunity for others to experience what GOG has done up to that point in time. If Galaxy is never updated or upgraded again, or it's completely thrown out, then there are still the other ways in which everything has already been done (and currently can be done without Galaxy).

From what I understand of the description of Galaxy and my use of it, it is simply an alternative for doing the same things that are already possible in other ways. As with any activity done for a specific result, comfort depends upon the circumstances at that specific moment, which obviously can be different for an individual at different times of life (day, week, month, year, etc.). I simply find other things to do with my life while waiting for the world to catch up with my personal interests, without assuming it ever will. And sometimes that means making something possible for myself instead of waiting for it to be possible by happenstance.

This has nothing to do with calling for open communication and testing so that a product can live up to it's fullest potential. This is very common when offering software publicly. Galaxy is offered as a SERVICE, that directly integrates with the games we are purchasing. So while the product itself may be freely given under no obligation to the end user, it for sure as hell has an direct correlation on their bottom line as a business. If you fail to communicate with the audience you are developing for then your product will also fail.

Never claimed GOG has any sort of obligation. Also it will be 1.2 according to GOG which is suppose to be under development ( regardless this does not matter either way). Being a business and doing what is in the best interest of your bottom line and your customers that you need to keep in order to remain a business is never about having an obligation to do something. Of course nobody is obligated to do anything in life. We are simply talking about best practices in software development to give a customers a good piece of software that GOG has determined they need to have in order to offer a better service. Not us.

Your typing a lot of text, but completely missing that actual point of my post in some attempt I guess to defend GOG. Not sure. The bottom line is Galaxy is a service that integrates directly with games and can not be directly replicated on this site such as achievements and online multiplayer. This is not an alternative by any means.

There are common practices in software development like with any field, if I did not stay in open communication with the end user I am developing for and offer a way for the software to be tested and improved upon before mass deployment then I would always write shitty software that in the end fails to make any market penetration and doesn't live up to what it was intended to do. Of course I am by no means obligated to write this software, except in the confines that I want to get paid and/or improve a particular issue for the community at large. The worst thing a programmer (and company) can do is think they can make something without getting feedback from the end user they are writing said software for.

This is how we end up with crap software and websites with zero usability and users that jump ship faster than you can say bye. Feedback and testing is essential. Both of which should be done without question in this early phase while nothing is final.

It's been long time with new patch. By the way change log post says that release year of 1.1.28 (1.1.27 also) patch is 2016.

Well that is more information than we have had in a very long time... so thanks I guess. Is it really that hard to communicate with us more often? Even with all the complaining, I hope this update is truly amazing. :)

I mistook Mr. Bear's left display for being the new UI for GOG chat and almost crapped my pants that the Galaxy client would finally have the friend list integrated into the right side of the main UI as a pane. Only moments later after trying to zoom in for more details did I realize it isn't Galaxy client but rather discord. I've been duped! :)

I can confirm that I do not see the new languages in 1.1.28 also, and that I am running 1.1.28 but the preview channel build if that makes a difference. I have:

French
German
Russian
Brazillian Portugeuse

(spelled in their native tongues of course)

Be sure you have ticked the "Enable languages with limited support" checkbox just underneath the language selection menu.

Ah, good catch! That indeed was the problem.


GOG really should put that entry on TOP of the combo box where language is chosen in terms of natural-flow of options that depend on each other. They should also increase the size of the combo box so it shows 10-20 languages on-screen rather than showing 3 languages and forcing someone to use a scrollbar to see the rest. I'd file mantis bug reports for these to enhance other user's experiences but alas I've filed a bazillion bug reports over time and it works in English for me just fine. :)

If anyone else who is affected cares to file one and post the id here, I'll "me too" confirm it for them. :)

Yea easy to miss for sure, but can confirm they are indeed there on Win10. Now why the settings menu to still looks like something straight out of Windows 2000 I will never know... it's a mystery for another day. I really hope 1.2 includes some major UI updates. Lol.

Yeah for sure. We'll have to wait it out though I imagine. My guess is that we wont see Galaxy 1.2 until Gwent nears official release and that they'll pass it through the beta team first, then to public preview channel for a while prior to Gwent's release. I speculate that the new client, API and background services they're working on will have features Gwent is the first to take advantage of, and that they'll need to roll that stuff out for it. This would make a huge amount of sense as they basically did this with The Witcher 3 in 2015, pushing Galaxy into public beta a week or two before the game came out as they hoped the game would draw people from outside onto the Galaxy platform. It seems to have done so rather successfully in the end despite how rocky the initial public beta was, but things are in a much smoother state now, so if they follow this strategy again I think they'll be going in with a lot smoother strategy if they pull it off right.

Lot of speculation on my part, but it's realistic I think based on observation of everything Galaxy related over time along with a number of other factors. I think the closest predictor we have currently to a Galaxy 1.2 release date, is following every CDPR blog post, news article etc. about Gwent for hints as to Gwent's release date, then subtracting 1-4 weeks from that to estimate when we'll see a big Galaxy update.

If they do something before then though, it'll be a pleasant and unexpected surprise for sure. For me anyway. :)
