== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Taro94: I've noticed two more things regarding this stuttering in NWN when launched via Galaxy.

1. The game runs smoothly just after launch and slowly becomes more and more stuttering. After about 10 minutes of playing, the stutter becomes annoyingly noticable and after 20 minutes it becomes REALLY bad. When I quit and start the game again, it runs smoothly again.

2. Even if the game has just been launched (and therefore runs smoothly), pressing SHIFT + TAB creates the stutter immediately and again, the only way to get rid of it is to restart the game.
avatar
Tyrrhia: Hmm. Have you looked in the Task Manager for anything suspicious during the stuttering? Might be a memory leak or something.
I'll try to check it out.
Hi. I read the first two post but I do not think my question was covered.

Some of the games I bought here are heavily modded. If I use galaxy and import the games, am I going to have to re-install the mods?

Moloch.: Some of the games I bought here are heavily modded. If I use galaxy and import the games, am I going to have to re-install the mods?
Depends on how the modding is done. Galaxy has a list of files (found in goggame-galaxyFileList.ini) that will check if they are the ones it expects to find. If those files are not modified by the mods, then Galaxy will not mess with them. If those files are modified, then Galaxy will download the original files again.
You can always install the games through Galaxy then set them to manual updates only before modding them.

Some of the games I bought here are heavily modded. If I use galaxy and import the games, am I going to have to re-install the mods?
Generally speaking, with its default configuration Galaxy will blow away any modifications that have been made to the actual files that are supplied in the game installation, so like JMich suggested above, if a game mod does not actually change any of a game's files it may work out fine, such as mods that drop into a custom mod/plugin directory type of deal. If a mod actually edits/changes a game's files though I can pretty much guarantee that the mod will be completely obliterated by Galaxy.

It should be noted that this is neither on purpose nor is it a flaw however, as it is impossible for Galaxy to be able to algorithmically decide on its own whether a game's modified files were modified by someone on purpose, or modified by a virus/malware, disk corruption or some other unwanted reason. Galaxy simply looks at the files as supplied by GOG and checks them to see if they are in the state they were provided as they exist on GOG's own servers. If they are different, then Galaxy replaces them with the official files not knowing or having any way to know why they were different.

So it is pretty much mandatory when using mods to disable auto-updates for games with Galaxy. If your game is already installed and you want to import it into Galaxy however, that poses a problem as Galaxy will automatically sync it to the official version before you have a chance to disable auto-updates. There's no way to disable auto-updates before or during import, so it's a game of "can you disable auto-updates manually after import before Galaxy syncs it?". Alternatively you can back up the files, import the game, then restore the backup over top of the original in theory.

What would really be nice is if Galaxy prompted you before it auto-updates a game for the first time with:

[x] Enable auto-updates for this game.
[x] Perform an auto-update immediately after importing.
[ ] This game has been modded and I want to keep my mods working. (This will disable auto-updates)

or something like that. Perhaps make the auto-updates or mods be a radio button widget.
Ok, I see. I will not add Baldur's Gate to my galaxy library if I decide to give it a try. I have about a 10 heavy mods on that one alone.

This is dll from one of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable libraries. I can't remember which one exactly but probably msvcr2013. Google it to be sure and then install. Both 32 and 64 bit versions to be precise. Then it should work no problem.

You might want to try downloading the standalone installer and installing that, then test if the game runs from the Start menu. If it does, then the problem is likely Galaxy not installing dependencies properly itself. Good idea to file a bug in Mantis if that's the case.

One should never have to download DLLs from Microsoft nor anywhere else in order to get a game to run. It might be a usable workaround, but should never be required - especially if they are "redistributables", meaning they can be redistributed by GOG so that people don't have to hunt all over the Internet for them.
I am stilling getting issues with the missing essential components error.

Glad I could help. :) Enjoy the game!
Hmmm holidays are over but no new bug fix updates... 1.2 on the horizon maybe? Let's hope.

PS: Also there seems to be an issue with the blue dot triggering when updates are disabled. Prison Architect had an update this morning and even though Galaxy has been left on for the last couple of days, no blue dot triggered. Eventually I just clicked on it manually and then the blue dot triggered. Will keep an eye on this and see if it really is an issue.
