Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Taro94: "A" game, not "the" game? Does it... does it mean the overlay now functions for other games than the selected few?
Yes it does. You will still find games where it doesn't work and there are different reasons for that. We know about one main reason that we are going to fix before it will be released for the "non preview" users.

Oh, cool! I'm curious about this main reason you're speaking of, would you mind telling us what it is? :)

Edit: Hm... looks like it still doesn't work for most of my games. Actually, it works only for The Witcher 3, Everspace, Gwent and the Witcher Adventure Game. As far as I've checked, obviously.

m0radin: snip
Glad to see this becoming available to the masses now. :)

Lebostein: A, thanks. In tradition of Galaxy this will be an optional feature?

The newest version of Galaxy is very unstable. If I exit a game, the game is not checked out in Galaxy. In this situstion it is impossible to quit Galaxy.
Yes it will be optional but some features (like inviting users in many multiplayer games) rely on the overlay. This is by design because we want to help the game developers so they don't have to implement their own invite dialogs for every game.

I'm not sure what you mean by the game not being checked out. Do you mean that the galaxy client looks like the game is still running? (play button greyed out) If yes then could you verify using task manager that the game process is indeed closed?

I wouldn't want to go too much into the details, it's just a thing where we need to change a few things around in the setup of some games to properly indicate that the overlay needs to be started, and for which process.

I see. Thanks for the answer. :) Although by the sound of it, it looks like the overlay won't try to work with non-GOG games launched through Galaxy... but hey, that's not that important. I'll be glad if we get the functional overlay for GOG games. :P
So now that overlay is available and I assume we will be using chat more often, can something be done about the fact you have to open the chat via the menu to clear notifications even if you have already opened and seen them via the pop up chat window. If I open the chat window via the chat pop up this should clear the notifications, but it doesn't. I have to click on my name and click chat for them to disappear.

Why we need two forms of chat within Galaxy I don't know, but it's a little annoying. I guess that it's because one chat only has Galaxy friends and the other includes everybody you have ever talked to which would be my guess.

I started to report games were the overlay won't open, but I'm wondering if I should perhaps wait until this is released?

Well, for me it would be a lot easier to list games where overlay does function. :P
The ratio of games where overlay works to the ones it doesn't is about 5 to 30.

Yea but trust me it's a lot better than it was, been helping to test it for a while now. It seems to work fine in Stardew Valley, Dead Space, Batman: A Telltale Series, Terraria & Prison Architect just to name a few.

edit: NM. Seems to be fixed now.

The GOG client just stopped working after whenever your last update was (I assume 10-25-2016). I can't launch it. It's not even crashing. It keeps showing up, I close it, then re-appearing on my quicklaunch bar though, which is incredibly annoying. Win 7 (64-bit).

As per log, getting a whole lot of this -

2016-10-25 23:44:50.122 [Error][ (0)]: Could not start windows task bar flashing procedure, error code = 0

And this, for various games -
2016-10-27 23:23:12.546 [Warning][SubSystem shortTasks thread (18)]: Error 404 while checking game ownership for gameId 1288540119

If you want the whole log I'll post it, but of the errors, it's literally just those 2 errors hundreds of times.

Having a pretty strange issue with the game Simpleplanes when played via Galaxy. If I launch the game via Galaxy with an Xbox 360 controller plugged in... the game crashes immediately. If I launch the game via shortcut with an Xbox 360 controller plugged in... it works fine. If I unplug the Xbox 360 controller and launch via Galaxy it works fine.

Somehow Galaxy or the controller is interfering with each other on this game. Other games work fine with the controller plugged in. I am running an insider preview build of Windows 10, but it seems to be directly related to Galaxy.

Any ideas?

This is most probably connected with the overlay, I will try to check it asap

Hmm, possibly. It did work fine the last time I played, but that was a few months ago. I think I did try to disable the overlay via settings but perhaps something in the background was still running to interfere with it.
avatar
I verified that it's indeed the overlay and working on a fix. The overlay is always on if you are using preview updates to get the best possible coverage, regardless of the checkbox in the settings.
Today I've got a blue bar at the bottom saying that my Galaxy is not updated and that I must updatre it from the website.

The client was updated yesterday with the test 1.1.19 update and was working fine.

Also when it's 1.2 coming?
