1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

BKGaming: I didn't say it did. But have your tried playing a game online on Galaxy, it's rare finding someone and I would argue that is largely because GOG has a very large conservative fan base who oppose Galaxy and multiplayer in general. I'm just saying let's not find ways to make it worse when GOG is growing with new people who don't share that view.
Or it might be because there are just not the right type of games. I ran one or two games in multiplayer for testing purpose but that's it. Not because I'm not interested, there just isn't any game here on gog that I play in multiplayer or where an online multiplayer is available.

why do you add people to your personal list of FRIENDS in the first place or accept their requests if you don't want to do anything with them or let them see anything more than general public does? keep them in the contact list and you have full privacy control.

Maybe not a problem for most people but there is no way that it can replace a friends list.

Uh and how exactly should that work? I mean no one will know if the wrong game is shown, since I can't see it myself and others won't know that I'm not playing the game that is shown ;-)

Okay that might be true, but we are starting to veer from the original point here. Making everything disabled by default would not help this situation. I fully agree give an option to do so, but let not lose sight of just what Galaxy is meant to be.

I personally am not disagreeing that you shouldn't be able to do that, not at all. More options the better really. I just think were going a bit beyond what the scope of a beta is suppose to be right now. In release (or sometime after release) I fully agree these should be there. Rome wasn't built in a day though, and neither is Galaxy.

Who knows what information GOG is getting from logs, I certainly have not looked through it all. Furthermore, I've had friends message me because they seen me playing a certain game to ask questions about it. If I had this disabled, they would not have seen what I was playing and I would not be able to confirm if the game I was playing was showing to them correctly.

I can't properly express how much I agree with that. I don't have much free time at the moment (repairs at home, change of heating system and so on) but what free time I have I would gladly devote to testing.

BKGaming: I would fully support those features (well Galaxy has an offline mode if no internet is hooked up), they just need to add an option to start in it. I also would support a private option for chat. I just don't want to see them disabled by default.

People are generally lazy by definition, if they were disabled by default a majority would not use them even if they wouldn't mind using them just because they would not want to take the time. This means Galaxy's online system would suck and make Galaxy irrelevant to what it is meant for.

It's bad enough finding older members on GOG now who aren't opposed to everything online focused. Let not make it worse when GOG is now slowly getting new people who don't share that view point.

And I'm not disagreeing with this at all, but I would think you would understand more than most just what the point of a beta is. It's not about giving people ways to disable features, it's about having people test those features and reporting valuable feedback either though manual bug reports or Galaxy sending automatic reports.

Having said that, I assume we will see more privacy related options soon enough during this beta.
Sure, I agree that the point of the beta is to have people test everything. But advertising something as optional and never actually making it optional for several years while dangling greyed out options in the settings dialogue is not helpful either. It's not like if something is optional immediately the millions of people "testing" Galaxy are going to all unanimously shut it off and GOG wont get any testing of the feature. I don't buy that for a microsecond. If something is advertised as optional, made optional, actually configurable - most people will leave most settings at the default as a part of human nature anyway. Those who change the default will most likely be the minority. Test coverage is actually increased because the thing that is "optional" is being tested both ways - enabled and disabled.

The things that are supposed to be optional are much more likely not optional simply because nobody has written the code to make them optional yet, rather than because they want to force everyone to test it.

They should make the defaults what they think the general user will want or appreciate to be the default. If they make things optional and with a way to change the default it isn't a big issue for people who want non-defaults to go and change the settings. I personally like to go through the preferences of every application I use and customize all the settings to my own personal taste and possibly refine that over time based on usage. I don't have a problem with changing defaults if I need to. What I don't like is when certain things have no options to configure them to personal preferences that should be. The only thing worse than that is showing a greyed out option that you can never actually configure for 2 years.

You're completely misunderstanding the point of my post. For starters, look at my Steam account (same nickname). It is shared with the world and everyone can see my list of games, wishlist, game time played - whatever. I wasn't forced to set it that way, I chose to set it that way, and more likely than not I will set up my GOG account that way also. That is what I'm talking about.

But regardless of how I would choose to set my account up if I even have a choice - I want the choice. And I'd like to be able to configure things on a finer grained basis. Why? Because that's what I would like that's why.

In real analogue life offline as a human being I can choose on an individual basis who my friends are, who my acquaintances are, what I tell them about myself, what aspects of my life I'd like to share with them, etc. because I get to decide what words come out of my mouth and who I direct them towards. It isn't perfect, but it is about the most control that we have over these things.

Online social networks, gaming platforms etc. do not give that level of control over how we share things. Fine, that's understandable because doing things digitally is more complex, and furthermore if you have too many options people can be confused.

It is completely possible however to provide a happy middle ground where just the right amount of control is present to let people decide what they would like to share about the information they have decided to make available in their online presence but make sensible defaults at the same time. That way people who have needs or desires that differ from the average joe can have their needs met also.

My friend list has dozens of people on it in chat that I don't even know who they are. Maybe someone messaged me once 3 years ago and GOG deleted the entire chat history with them sometime or lost it in a hard drive crash or something. It has a fascination with permanently leaving people on the list if you've ever even talked to them once or they to you. Even though I generally will share most of my gaming related data etc. with other friends, there are reasons why one might not want to do so as I indicated above. If the boundary of choice that one has is "make someone not be a friend" in order to prevent them from seeing some data in your profile, that is too fine grained and depending on the people can have social consequences. Unfriend someone because you don't want them spying on how many hours you log in some game because they are getting on your case about it for some reason, and maybe that causes real world social dysfunction drama.

This isn't a demand, it is a preferential suggestion, and one that nobody would have to care about if they don't want to use it. As others have stated, on Steam you at least have some level of control over what certain classifications of people can see in your profile. I'd like to see Galaxy have at least that level of configuration. But I don't want Galaxy to just clone Steam as a boilerplate either. I would like to see Galaxy become way better than Steam, and the ability to configure things more user friendly and caring about the unique needs of certain classes of users who want greater flexibility is a way to provide that level of differentiation.

Most likely. Still doesn't change the point of what the beta is for, meaning it's probably also not a high priority to get these things coded. But agree fully that part of a beta is testing to make sure those optional features can be disabled. So as I said, I'm sure we will see them soon enough even if we don't see them in this next update.

Yeah, I just hope we see the options actually show up soon, or get removed from the settings screen completely until they're ready. It just reminds me of those "Under Construction" web images of the 1990s which generally meant "this content will never actually ever show up" in reality.
Had trouble with updating the client so I uninstalled GOG Galaxy, deleted all leftover files and installed again but it still wont update fully, it loads until 18 MB (out of 100 something) and then it stops. I thought re-install might do the trick but i was wrong. It's happening again.

I like galaxy installer just cause it is simpler...

Achievements/my time recorded for just me is fine...
(though even that should be option)

What should never be forced is making personal stats/information public.

Hi,

should it be possible to access windows file shares using the \\servername\folder\... syntax for GoG folders in the client?
As I do not have a problem to browse them, and the settings show the actual address ... although when I try to download something after configuring it immediately fails.

I connected with a user that has full rights to those folders on that machine, so access should be possible.
Is the reason for failed access that it is simply not built in correctly or does GoG Galaxy client need some additional rights?

/Edit:
Filled a bug report 0004515, although there are already a few duplicates out there. According to the logs it seems that just a function for remaining disk size check fails and therefore the whole download job fails.

I was playing Grim Dawn, not via GOG Galaxy, just standalone.
Galaxy is installed but was not up & running.

I had three achievements pop up (grrrrrr!) in game, screenies provided.
I'd had none up until now & this kind of stuff ruins immersion, which is why I never play via Galaxy etc.

If this is a bug, I'll report it.

I have my account set to show SEK but the GOG Galaxy Beta client shows the money in EUR anyway. Although both the website and the client shows that it should be SEK.

Also, the EUR price is about 7 SEK more expensive than the Website in SEK.
