== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

dudalb: I bought Vampire The Masquerad Bloodlines on sale and tried 3 times to install it through Galaxy,and each time it timed out..nver got past the turning circle. I will try again in a couple of days.
If this is because of traffic from the sale,then GOG really needs to invest in a bigger server with more bandlenght.
The GOG website runs on a completely different set of servers than GOG Galaxy runs on, so no.
Does anyone know what's the difference between installing games in their own directory versus the galaxy directory? Is there a benefit/disadvantage either way or just a personal preference thing?

BKGaming: I feel like GOG missed a big opportunity with GOG connect... would have been the perfect time for a significant Galaxy update. Most of the top comments around reddit were stuff like: "still missing cloud saves" or "still missing stuff listed under soon" by new people trying the client.
Soon is kind of a vague time related term that means "sometime in the next 50 years" though, so they're still ahead of schedule! :)

There is no major difference really. Originally Galaxy did not install games under the Galaxy directory, but a lot of people wanted it that way and tried to install there. Due to a bug in the Galaxy client, when it updated it would wipe out all of the installed games (oops!), but GOG fixed that problem and not long afterword they defaulted to installing into a subdir of the Galaxy client. That's what most gaming clients do these days so I guess it is a sensible default.

Personally, I prefer to install to "E:\GOG Games", as it's a shorter path for me to remember when tinkering with mods or other manual file level stuff than a deeply nested directory. Also, sometimes Galaxy client upgrades fail or there are other problems with the client that may potentially be resolved by uninstalling the client and reinstalling it. Sometimes deleting the Galaxy client directory entirely helps clean up things and lets an updated version install more cleanly with a higher chance of working, but if the games are in a subdirectory of the client then one must be careful to not blow away all of the games too. By having them in a separate directory not under Galaxy, I can just totally blow away the Galaxy client folder when things go wrong.

Other than that though, I'm not sure of any real benefits other than personal preference, or limited disk space or similar.

Same here, I prefer to install at the root or its own directory rather than nestled elsewhere. It's definitely easier to deal with down the road and you have lesser worries whenever something goes wrong.

Yeah, another reason is making backup copies of deeply nested directory hierarchies over SMB network shares. If the full path name of a file is longer than SMB supports then the backup chokes, very annoying. Allegedly newer versions of Windows have a solution to that which isn't enabled by default, but that's not useful to me. :)
How I import folder based games on Mac OS X? Some of the installed games are not bundled to an app. These games are located in a simple subfolder inside /Applications. If I select the subfolder if the import dialog ask for the folder, then the import fails. Here are some examples of such games:

* Kathy Rain
* Rebel Galaxy
* the Banner Saga 2

Why does the client continuously take up 4-5% of CPU use when it is minimized to the system tray. I'd like to keep Galaxy running, I'd like to have it start with Windows, I'd like to use it more. Especially as my GOG library is slowly growing. But there's no chance that will happen with a client that sits minimized to the system tray running at 4-5% of CPU use. No other client I've ever encountered does this. Not Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc. The Galaxy client is up to date, in fact, it seems that every other time i start it up that it updates. That's not necessarily a knock, but right now I only use it to download my games and then close it out. I think I asked this before and got no reply. Not sure why I should bother asking again, probably just the coffee typing...

We have a bug on mantis (#4070). I added my logs there and commented that I also have the issue. I think you should also add your logfiles. If it doesn't always happen, etc., don't forget to comment too. If enough people provides logs and let them know it's an issue, the sooner they might be able to fix it. Hopefully.
I'd like to see "Wishlist" right next to "Store" and "Library" in the nav bar at the top because, if I"m just looking for something new to play it's easy to find what new thing to buy.
I recently installed GOG GALAXY BETA, and it worked the first day, now it GOG Galaxy cannot launch because it is already running on another account on this computer.

I have attached a screenshot of the message.

PalZer0: I've noticed that one of the Galaxy Client Helper processes tends to max one of my CPU cores (i5 2500K) for no particular reason if I leave it for a while. Not sure what could be causing that.
avatar
skeletonbow: What page/content is showing in the client content area when this happens, or does it continue to do that if you navigate to different pages as well, ie: store, library, game installation page, etc.?
It happens when I have Galaxy minimised to tray (I tend to leave it on the "Library" page).

One of two problem scenarios generally:

1) Someone else using the same computer has logged into Galaxy already and it does not currently support multiple accounts on one computer yet.

if that is not the case or not possible then:

2) The front-end crashed/died and left the backend running in memory. It wont appear visible in the systray or anywhere, but if you open up task manager you should see a bunch of Galaxy related processes. You can kill those processes and should then be able to start the client again.

There could be other possibilities also, but those two are probably the most common.

All GOG games should be bundled to an app on OSX. GOG Galaxy won't scan & import games downloaded from other store (you can force it with import from the game view's settings but it still needs to be a .app directory).

I also have this problem.
One of the Helper processes (the one that uses the most memory) is using around 3 percent of my CPU, give or take a point (it jumps around).
Not only that, but the instant I start the Galaxy client my GPU temperatures start to rise over TEN DEGREES (Celsius). And this happens in under just a minute.

Obviously this is not going to work for me so I won't be using the client until this is fixed.

Did anyone else just get a GOG Galaxy update, but after installing the title bar still says 1.1.11 (beta)?
