== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

8BitGinno: So, I've never actually seen this "in-game overlay" I've heard of even once so far.

For example, I'm playing Pillars of Eternity. Is it available for this game?
avatar
skeletonbow: The experimental game overlay is available in games that support it, which at the moment include:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Prison Architect

Once the feature is working properly and reliably it will no doubt be available to other games as well. If it requires changes to the game code itself, then it will probably only get added to new games and games that are still updated with new patches from their respective publishers. If there is a way for GOG to make it work with old games without source changes, then they'll probably do that in the future as well. Right now it is an unstable experimental feature so they're not going to want to enable it for everything across the board until it works properly or they'd have to hire 10000 new people to handle the incoming tech support burden. :)
Ah, thanks for the clarification.

I hope it gets done soon. I love how minimal GOG Galaxy is, but it needs a few more features such as this.
Hi,

I've been getting the "An error occurred during signing in" error for half a year (reinstalled the client now, used the latest version - still the same issue). I've filed a bug in Mantis tracker (http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=3766), but it's still sitting there unresolved, not a single reply from the dev team. Is there anything I can do to escalate this bug and get my issue solved?
FEATURE SUGGESTION:

Add support for Win XP & Vista,
NEVER DEPRECATE OLD WORKING CLIENT PLEASE

What when you deprecate the old client ? would am I become unable to download the games for wich I already paid? :P
Don't do same s**t errors that Microsoft is doing , because you are not (unluckily) microsoft.

Galaxy is working on XP SP3 and is working good - good work GOG!
having said that, the OS is not supported anymore by anyone so GOG probably won't support it either - there is a big difference between "works on" and "is supported". :(

GOG Galaxy needs more efficiency in dealing with game updates ASAP.
For example, today, update 1.3.11 of DOTT Remastered was released. It is a 3mb size update. Instead, Galaxy downloaded 2.3GB of the entire game again.

That´s just wrong.
avatar
flaviossa: That´s just wrong.
Did it download the full 2.3GB though (as in actual traffic, not displayed number)? I know that some game engines don't handle small changes that well (you basically have to download the full assets file all over), but don't think DOTT suffers from that.

Exit Galaxy, check task manager and make sure no Galaxy processes are running in memory and kill them if they are, uninstall Galaxy, remove C:\ProgramData\Gog.com\Galaxy, download the latest client from https://www.gog.com/galaxy and install it. This ensures you have the latest version and it is a clean install with no legacy cruft left from past upgrades, which solves a tonne of problems in general.

If the problem still exists, then update your bug report in Mantis with the latest details and optionally contact GOG support for assistance.
Tried the GOG beta as part of the summer sale thingy....so far not impressed, when I try to install it on my Windows 7 PC, i get an error about having to patch Windows Vista.
Sorry GOG, but I dont plan to downgrade to Vista :)

Janus.606: i get an error about having to patch Windows Vista.
That seems like Galaxy failing to properly identify your OS, which seems really weird. Assuming you are not running it on Vista compatibility mode, I'd suggest reporting that to http://mantis.gog.com
avatar
skeletonbow: I hope when the overlay is fully functional and the Galaxy client reaches stable status that GOG ads a new optional feature to the overlay to subscribe to get in-game notifications of games on your wishlist going on sale during flash sales and Insomnia sales so you don't miss them when they're up for like 2 minutes. Even better would be if you could buy GOG promotions inside The Witcher 3 when you're at the blacksmith, armorer etc. :)
Update: While perusing the latest version of https://www.gog.com/galaxy I just noticed that they have already advertised this very same feature for the future. In game notification of games on your wishlist on sale that is, not the ability to purchase them inside Witcher 3. :)
Just tried this galaxy, for the first time in a while, why are some games saying 'not yet availble'

also galaxy is scanning my hard drives, I'll import games into galaxy, if I choose too, it tried to download witcher 3 again, lol I have 4GB left on my HD.

all the best

PS whats with the galaxyhelper.exe's is there a need for 3 of them, is this a steam client in disguise..

Considering the fact that windows update is completely buggered on my laptop (it hogs half the CPU for no reason), and when I tried to install the required it started checking for updates on my laptop I said no way and cancelled the installation.

GOG galaxy is now banished from my laptop until it's upgraded to windows 10 later on this month (thanks for making your optional game client optional only to windows 10 unless you install some update to get it working on older operating systems where windows update has already been screwed up by microsoft).

Thanks for report on mantis. We'll see what we can do :) And yes, even though Vista is extremely reliable and useful and my favourite OS, we rather advise you not to downgrade:)

PS whats with the galaxyhelper.exe's is there a need for 3 of them, is this a steam client in disguise..
Modern gaming clients are nothing more than highly customized web browsers, and that includes Galaxy, Steam, Origin, Uplay, Desura and Blizzard's Battle.NET client to name a few. Galaxy client is built on the Google Chrome Engine, which is a multi-process web browser engine. Both Galaxy and Steam clients are Google Chrome in disguise, and I'd actually be quite surprised if the rest of the named clients don't also use the Chromium engine as well, as it's a lot easier to take the source code from a highly successful open source web browser and reuse it than to spend years designing your own from scratch, much the same way that the majority of 3D game developers license pre-existing 3D game engines for their games rather than writing their own from scratch if one of the ones that exist already do what they need it to do. It saves significant time and developer resources and as a result it saves a lot of money also.

The number of processes that are running are irrelevant underlying details of the Chrome browser engine that make no difference to the end user so it doesn't really matter if there are 2, 10 or 30 really. As long as it is consuming a reasonable amount of resources that would be expected of a full blown modern web browser engine for the content it is displaying and the other functionality that it provides, then it is a reasonable solution.

If someone is running Windows XP or Vista on a PC made in 2004 then their computer is not likely going to be up to scratch to running any modern gaming client, but such users tend to not like gaming clients at all anyway.

Simple solution for someone who has an ancient computer that wont run a modern gaming client, or who prefers to bicker about irrelevant details about how it is implemented such as the number of processes running, is to not use use it and instead download their games through their web browser instead (which uses the same amount of resources by the way).

Just saying.
avatar
skeletonbow: Just saying.
I won't then, thanks for your time

all the best

[edit] maybe you didn't understand, I was wondering why the galaxy client, was automatically importing games into galaxy. as I sad I can import games if I choose too.

I thought Galaxy is optional..
