== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Well.. as of today, trying to run Galaxy results in an error message "Failed to load game databse. Check permissions as likely cause".

Running Win8, 64.
Checked the folders, things are precisely the same as before and I'm still lthe sole admin of my computer.
Restarted computer a few times, reinstalled Galaxy, but that didn't help.

Anyone have any ideas?

TPR: MS is trying to show how bad are "old" Windows to "convince/force" us to switch to Wincrap 10... :-/
avatar
Loose_Control: Sorry but that is BS^^
This type of problem is nothing new unfortunately you get this especially when you don't upgrade the system over a longer period of time.

The actually unbeliable thing here in my opinion is that PhenomTaker complains about a problem and then about the fix for the problem here because his windows update isn't working properly which is his responsiblilty...
btw Another way to fix the WU problem (if i remember correctly) is to download the lastes windows update agent and delete the SoftwareDistribution folder.
I've got Windows 7 on few machines (in home/work and small office). One Ultimate and other Professional versions. All systems are updated regularly every month... except "patches" which are trying to install Windows 10 (automatic update is disabled).

WU or actually MU (Microsoft Update; extended version of WU) is set to "check but do NOT download". Update agent you're talking about is optional and is made to "better" install of Windows 10.

Since last three months we're experiencing problems with update like described by PhenomTaker. That's why I'm installing them manually after download (like I described in previous post).

Deleting "SoftwareDistribution" folder is not acceptable solution because it makes problem when there is a need to uninstall single "patch". In extreme situation it'll force reinstall of system. I know because I tried this method so I'm not recommending it.

mike_cesara: Right, could you check your settings in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\GalaxyClient\settings registry path?
startingPage should be set to Library
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings
window.maximized set to 1.
Save your settings in Galaxy, close the client and check the registry keys.
Not sure about Polish language, I only know it is translated : )
avatar
UTAVATU: I have changed in Galaxy client from Store to Library and close Galaxy client to chech if it modifies registry, but startingPage is still Store, even if I change it to Library via Galaxy client. I have also modified directly in registry and set Library, but after restaring Galaxy client startup page is still Store and if I go to Settings there is Store also, so I refresh registry, to see what is there and.... Library, but in Galaxy client it is not working.

I have run Galaxy client as Administrator (right click and Run as Administrator) and in such case my window location and maximization is working, but when I click without Run as Administrator, my window is not maximized. Of course Library as startup page still doesn't work, even if I will Run as Administrator.
First of all:
The second registry key is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings, not the WowNode, that had me confused there for a while xD
I sometimes have the problem with the fullscreen mode, but at other times it works fine.

But I also had the problem with store/library at startup and changing of install folders.
And here's how I solved it:
I have a local user on the computer that is member of the administrators group, this group has full access to the keys stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\GalaxyClient\settings. Except that's not enough.
I gave my user specifically full access permissions to the GOG.com tree (and that's why I don't like it, I mean that's what groups are for). Anyway, this fixed it for me and maybe it'll help some other people as well. Computer restart may be required.

I'll try to report this on mantis if I find the time :)
Ever since my client updated when I logged in this morning, I now get the following error.

The program can't start because mfc140u.dll is missing from your computer.

Any I idea what would of caused it.

Thanks,

That is just plain wrong the update is actually there get the latest update agent because the older one seems to be too dumb to do this by itself. which is why i wrote this often happens with not regulary updated installations. I had this on my NB which i rarely use and on my Desktop after (!!!) the last clean windows 7 install.

avatar
TPR: Since last three months we're experiencing problems with update like described by PhenomTaker. That's why I'm installing them manually after download (like I described in previous post).
On all machines at once? Well i would try to fix WU or reinstall the machine not working WU is a major annoyance in my opinion^^

Why? just delete the unwanted patch and then reset WU and blacklist the package again after WU is working properly again. i don't see the problem i can't imagine anything more annoying on windows than not working WU.

Yes, you are right and I can confirm, that giving permission to my user for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com solved the problem with Startup Page and now when Galaxy client starts Library is the main page. For the second problem with maximized window you must change in the shortcut: "Run this program as Administrator" and you will have maximized window next time you will launch Galaxy client.

Thank you very much for your help and support.

Nice to hear it and I would be glad for this fix in the next release.

What about starting Galaxy client from shortcut directly to System Tray instead of maximized window? Steam and Origin has got such feature via argument "Steam.exe -silent" or "Origin.exe /StartClientMinimized".

I would like to have an option in Galaxy Client called Parental Control, where I will set my 4 digits PIN (password) and I will choose, which tabs of Galaxy Client will not be accessed without entering this PIN (password). For example I will set PIN 3472 and I will choose not to show Shop, Orders tabs, so when somebody (for example child) will launch Galaxy Client and would like to access Shop or Orders tabs, must enter this 3472 PIN. There is such feature in Steam and it's called Family Mode. Other example, I can add, which games are visible in my Library after entering PIN.

I would also like to start games automatically from shortcut. At the moment I can click shortcut of the game for example: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and it will launch Galaxy Client, where I must to click Play button to start the game. I would like to click shortcut of the game, which will launch Galaxy Client in background (minimized to System Tray) and than it will automatically starts this game. Like in the Uplay, Origin, Steam clients, you click the shortcut and it launches client in the background and then game starts.

Thank you for your great support.

In Steam and others the client launched when launching a game from a shortcut because it's required for the game to run. Galaxy is supposed to be optional, so I don't think there's a need to enable launching the client with the game.

I think you may not understand me well, because of my English, but I think you don't realize that, when you install for example The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from Galaxy client it creates shortcut, which will launch Galaxy client and then go to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt tab in Galaxy client, where you have got Play button, which you must to click to play the game. I know that, when you will install the same game not from Galaxy client, but from downloaded files you will have shortcut with path to the witcher3.exe and the game will launch in such case without Galaxy client.

Hi,I have translated GOG Galaxy to spanish. It´s almost completed. If you want to, I can give you the general.json in order to get GOG galaxy translated for everyone.
Heroes of Might & Magic (1995-1996) have no intro / outro cutscenes if installed via Galaxy Client

Good old fashioned website installer (ver. 2.1.0.38) have no issues with playing cutscenes.

If files from </.../Heroes of Might and Magic> folder to be copied / replaced files in <.../GalaxyClient/Games/HOMM> folder then there is no issue with cutscenes playback. What exact file(s) is a culprit I don't know.

OS: Win 7 64-bit

Please check and fix it

EDIT: You've fixed it, thanks!

I've updated the changelog above, yesterdays update was for our internal libraries to fix some bugs in game integrations, and add new features for game developers.

Those kinds of updates do not look interesting in the changelog, as they do not bring new features immediately in a visible way, but they add new functionalities for game developers that are currently working on new Galaxy powered titles.
