Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

edoantonioco: I installed assassins creed through the installer (from the last year I think), then I went to gog galaxy to add the game to the program through the "scan and import folders" option. But no matter if I select the "gog galaxy" folder (where the game files are located) or the directory where the game was installed, gog galaxy keeps saying "Did not find any game to import".
I have that folder on my D: partition, if that matter. I hope this will be fixed.

Edit: If I go directly to the game and then select to import it from there, it works.
That's because Galaxy has two import options. Scan and import is for installations that were installed with Galaxy compatible installers (not all are yet, but this means the installer must be newer). For games installed with older installers, you have to go to the game page and import the folder.

It would be rather nice if they could simplify this and make one import option that detects both.

Grandizer: This is why I'm so against using front end software to play a game,. I haven't used Steam in a lng time and do not buy games dependent on Steam running to be able to play them. I bought this game not even wanting to install Galaxy and thought for the extras or achievements to complete and post during the game, I would need it . My Win 7 is fully updated, minus 34 language packs I don't need. Until this update, launcher worked fine. Now get an installer error l1.1.0.dll is missing. I uninstall C++2015 and try to reinstall and still won't complete. Then I get another dll is missing error when trying to launch, due to uninstalling 2015, instead of it updating. So I do a restore. Now I go an download CRT from the KB update and it pops up it's not applicable to my system. Was there an actual need to change the Galaxy programming to C++2015 to do a simple call to provide library, updates and achievement notification? If I do find a fix, I'm reluctant to even uninstall Galaxy and try to re-install to find it won't sync or add games back in.
I have this exact same problem. Why. Just WHY? Now I can't launch GOG Galaxy at all. If a reinstall doesn't fix this....I have no Idea what I'm gonna do.

JMich: Did they claim it will be, or is this similar to "When will Dark Souls be open source"?
They claim it's optional, modular, user-empowering client for the users. Which is nothing like Dark Souls so I don't know where you're going with that.

avatar
JMich: For single player, it will always be optional. For multiplayer, it depends on the game whether it will be optional or not.
So it's not optional.

avatar
JMich: Dying Light has LAN play that doesn't require Galaxy.
But the online does.

XyleDaylight: They claim it's optional, modular, user-empowering client for the users. Which is nothing like Dark Souls so I don't know where you're going with that.
They did say optional, modular and user-empowering. They never said open source. So asking when Galaxy will be open source is similar to asking when game X will be open source. Dark Souls was in my mind due to other reasons.

XyleDaylight: So it's not optional.
Yes, and no. It is optional if you are only interested in single player. It may be optional for multiplayer. It is optional for downloading, installing and updating the games. Whether that counts as optional or mandatory is for each user to decide.

JMich: Dying Light has LAN play that doesn't require Galaxy.
avatar
XyleDaylight: But the online does.
Yes. Using the built in matchmaking system will require Galaxy. Playing with someone from the other side of the world will need either Galaxy (and not sure if you can pick who to play with) or a method to be seen in the same subnet as him, so you can play LAN. Similar to what is needed for games that have only LAN option available, or had their matchmaking services shut down.

I know they never said open source, which is why I asked. But they did say optional, modular and user-empowering.(which is not something Dark Souls has ever advertised so obviously I'd never expect the source code of that game. I don't know why you brought it up.) Which implies open source or eventually truly optional.

Yes and no = not optional. Unless you consider not using an account-based client as optioning yourself out of aspects of a game. Terraria does not have this issue, sporting crossplay between DRM/DRM-Free, Mac, Linux & Windows. Direct IP connect, listen servers and dedicated user servers are a thing.

avatar
JMich: Yes.
Alrighty then. So it's not optional, required for online play with login credentials.

You can see why I might want this open source. GOG's interests do not align with what they once advertised. Not that it being open source would solve everything but it's a start at least.

I would classify XCOM 2 as modular and user empowering, but not sure I'd call it open source. If you think those words do mean open source, then that is your understanding of it. It may hopefully become open source, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yes, there are multiple ways of setting up network play. Some of them work without the need of any additional software or authentication, others do not. Personally, I'd rather have a Galaxy enabled Dying Light than a multiplayer-less Brutal Legend, even though in both cases a Terraria case is preferred.

What is it that they advertised? That you could play multiplayer without authenticating? That Galaxy will always be optional for single player? Or is it something else entirely?

They advertised optional.

They did not advertise optional with optioning yourself out of aspects of a game. It's like saying steam DRM client is optional on steam games; as long as you option to never play them, you never have to launch the client. The only difference is with galaxy it's parts of the game, not the whole game.

And I don't think a game without online is worse than a game with online and partial DRM, at least on GOG - the whole point to being DRM free, ie the primary reason I buy anything here.

I know GOG games have sometimes gotten the short end of the stick for things like this but that was old games... but now the galaxy client is involved with modern titles, meaning GOG themselves had more say in things now or at least for Dying Light had to make a judgment call: refuse to sell the game, sell it without online, or sell it with online, partial DRM and make lots of money.

This could become a precedent. We may never have another Terraria situation which is dissapointing as hell.

XyleDaylight: They advertised optional.
They advertised optional for the single player aspect of the game. They never said it will always be optional for the multiplayer part of the game. They said that in the very first day they revealed the client, in the video conference they had. They never advertised it would be optional for multiplayer.
Do ask if you want me to find and link said video.

I believe you but it hasn't been consistent. For example see attached image. I don't see a "*single player only" in that instance of the video which is what I and many others got excited about when Galaxy was being announced.

I'm not saying they didn't cover their bases elsewhere with "read the fine-print" trickery, but you can't deny they pushed the galaxy client as something free, open and better than rival clients mainly by being optional, only for it to be absolutely not the case and is a glorified downloader with GOG titles having it mandatory to unlock the full experience.

Actually, they advertised DRM-free games. They never said that it applies only to singleplayer content.

I like GOG (in fact, I buy games exclusively here), but let's be fair. Selling DRMed multiplayer content is bending their own policy at the very least. There's no denying it.

Question, do you believe CD-Keys to be DRM or not?

JMich: Question, do you believe CD-Keys to be DRM or not?
No. Software authentication via CD-keys does not require connection to external servers. So it will be possible to use and verify this software even when no support remains for the software. Unless, of course, we're speaking of keys that are checked online on authentication. This is DRM.

It's a question of whether content is protected somehow. It's a question of whether it's protected in a way that will make it impossible to use (or use some of it) years from now, when the plug is pulled.

have you listened to this announcement video that you post screenshot from? when they mention the very first feature thay say "if you want to play online you need to be connected".

also their announcement on the site https://www.gog.com/news/introducing_gog_galaxy says "Today we are excited to announce GOG Galaxy, a truly gamer-friendly, 100% DRM-free online gaming platform that will finally provide the GOG.com community with the easy option to play together online. If you do not want to play online, or use our optional client to access these features, then no worries, you will always be able to play the single-player mode 100% DRM-free, and download manually the latest updated version of your favorite title from our website. "

also if you dont like this then dont use galaxy - your gog games will play exactly as if galaxy never existed.

Let me reprhase. A game that requires a CD-key to play multiplayer, and the CD-key has to be verified, either that it is unique to the current server's players or that it exists in a database.
Is that a game with DRM or not?
Single player doesn't care about the CD-Key at all.

Missing features? Yeah not really since Terraria proves that wrong.
