== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

So, interesting thing about Terraria; I figured maybe something was wrong with my files or such, which is why the update was so massive compared to what the game is. So I uninstalled it, and when I went to reinstall, suddenly a game that says its file size is 130 MB requires 940MB to download.

What on earth?
Dunno if it has been mentioned already.

gl3nnium: Hey there everyone. Just tried Gog Galaxy client.
Very new to this so for all I know the things im about to say may have been covered many times before..anyway here goes.
I tried it and uninstalled it 20 minutes later because after taking a good look i didnt really see the point. It didn't seem to offer anything. I couldnt see anything different from the website. I didnt see any community hubs or anything.
It's still in the beginning stages of development and nowhere remotely close to feature complete currently, not yet intended to be a fully functional client, just to test the core technologies and work the kinks out. New features will be added in upcoming releases. If there are features in particular that you would like to see in a future release though, it's a good idea to visit the Galaxy section of the GOG wishlist and search to see if the feature has already been requested and vote for it, or add it if no existing entry is there. You can post the link here after also to advertise your suggestion to pick up more votes if you like.

gl3nnium: Also i read somewhere that Gog Galaxy had a function to launch multiplayer games for old school titles. I thought this was great because it would give me an alternative to gameranger for old games....but I saw no multiplayer hubs at all.
You may have heard misinformation then as GOG Galaxy multiplayer does not do that. Galaxy multiplayer support must be added to each game that wishes to support the feature by the upstream developer of the game. The purpose of it is so that game developers do not need to rely extraneous 3rd party services for their multiplayer matchmaking such as Gamespy which went out of business, and instead use GOG's own multiplayer service for their game. If they do, their customers can also play their games with friends who bought the game on other stores (crossplay) so gamers don't all have to buy their game at the same store. Currently the multiplayer service is new and in beta and there are only a small number of game developers who have added support for it to their games. Aliens vs. Predator 2000 is one of them, and I believe the Double Dragon game, Witcher Adventure Game and possibly a couple of others.

Galaxy multiplayer is not a separate application like a VPN or something, and must be built right into the games that plan on using it. They may decide to add additional features and expand the scope of the service in the future however so what you're suggesting is something that could theoretically happen if enough people vote for it on the wishlist to indicate they would really like to have that. I have not seen very many people suggesting or discussing such a feature yet so it isn't clear how much interest there might be, but it's good to put it on the wishlist so people can vote for it to indicate they support the idea.

gl3nnium: All of that would have been fine if Gog Galaxy had been able to import my gog games in my actual gog folder on my hard drive (using the plus button in the top left) but it couldnt find a single gog game no matter how many times i tried.
It's been mentioned dozens of times in this huge thread already that old pre-Galaxy GOG game installers are not Galaxy aware and so Galaxy is not able to detect them automatically. You have to manually import them and add the parent folder they all are in. It will be able to import many of them then, however some may not detect still and may need individual importing. Once it imports each game it synchronizes and updates it to the latest version on GOG's servers which may end up downloading a lot of data. This update/sync will also blow away any custom mods you have installed in any of your games because it has no way to determine if a game is modified on purpose or been corrupted in some way, so one must take caution. It is highly recommended to backup your entire game installation directory before importing it into Galaxy as a precaution.

avatar
gl3nnium: So its a fail unfortunately...but thats okay, i still enjoy my gog games the good old fashioned way (by installing from my gog downloads) and I use steam daily so I dont feel im missing out on anything.

Nice idea Gog guys but unfortunately there was nothing useful (or that worked) in the client for me.

Thanks. Ill still keep buying and downloading your games but i think ill steer clear of the client.
That's understandable if you're looking for a stable feature complete client as it's not quite there yet. It might be a good idea to avoid Galaxy for now if you're looking for something more feature complete and stable, it is heavily in development currently and has a lot of bugs including ones that can blow away game installations inadvertently. It will stablize and grow more features over time though so you might want to check back from time to time to see what the general consensus is.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your games!

gl3nnium: It didn't seem to offer anything. I couldnt see anything different from the website.
It is meant in the first place to auto update your existing game installations and keep you always connected to GOG (also from in game - for example to play online to unlock achievements). This is something that the website will never be able to offer.

It can import all of your games, however not all games can be automatically detected. Please read sticky post on top of the page, specifically section "== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY == "
back up copies of the games do not work when downloading them via GOG Galaxy. I have tried it in the default GOG Games\temp folder and also an alternative folder but it always comes out as .exe.download. For example, setup_battle_realms_complete_2.0.0.9.exe.download, not setup_battle_realms_complete_2.0.0.9.exe. It cannot find a program to "run the file with" when I try and launch the installer, However, when I remove the .download suffix from the name, leaving only .exe, not .exe.download, it still fails and says it is "corrupted and I must redownload the file, when I do, same thing it comes as exe.download and fails to launch. This happens with all of my games regardless if I download my backup copies of the game to the default directory or an alternative directory.

I mean it's your game, so I thought It will be one of the first ones to support GoG achievements, but months have passed and still nothing. :(

Weird, just tried downloading that and ended with a working "setup_battle_realms_complete_2.0.0.9.exe". Works fine for other downloads I've checked as well... I understand that you are running Client 1.0.5 on Windows 7 or newer, yes? Assuming this is not a bug on our end (but it doesn't seem like one) It could be some antivirus or similar app interfering and locking the file, as clearly the file downloads is not only corrupted / incomplete but the file is not renamed as well (meaning something else must have locked the file along the download).

Can you please clean your logs (see sticky post on top on where are logs located per OS), replicate this issue for a game or two, and report the issue together with freshly generated logs to mantis as per sticky post on top?
If there were an option to remove all mentions of GOG Galaxy from my interface until it is actually available on my platform (Linux), I would enable the crap out of that option and thank you for it. Just saying.
Hey, new GOG user here, and I just purchased a game. I was told that GOG galaxy was my only option of downloading and playing my game but GOG galaxy fails to finish loading at the last 0.1mb every single time. Is there another way for me to play these games? Because this is kinda jank if this is my only option.

You were told wrong, you can download your games via Galaxy, the web browser via </span> or the old<span class="bold"> [url=http://www.gog.com/downloader]GOG downloader. Galaxy is entirely optional. Galaxy is in beta and will have some issues for now.

I don't know if this was mentioned here before, but GOG Galaxy has an issue with the way it verifies/checks for updates. It is touched upon in this thread http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_downloading_issues, but the conclusion is that the issue is with the game. This thread mentions that it has problems with certain games, but the download page for Pillars of Eternity does push GOG Galaxy so I don't think this is the case.

The issue is that when I Galaxy wants to update Pillars it maxes out my internet connection (1.5Mbps) for hours on end and then errors out. The only message that it gives is "Getting File List". This message is utterly nonsensical in light of the symptoms. And there is also the part where Galaxy is unable to update Pillars and is a terrible option for people with low bandwidth speeds.

Please maintain support for GOG Downloader since it works (and is also able to tell if I've downloaded something before and check its integrity).

Every single game on GOG can be downloaded directly through the web browser with no other software, then manually installed via the standalone setup EXE file. It has always been like this and they intend to keep it that way also. You can also at your option use the GOG Downloader to download the game backups and extras which is a bit smoother and more reliable way of downloading in general although it is deprecated officially now but still available. GOG Galaxy is the 3rd and newest option and within it you have 2 options. You can just directly install your games as you would with any popular gaming client, or alternatively you can download the standalone game installers and bonus materials as backups in the "More" menu, which you can then install manually at your leisure.

So there are 3 ways of downloading GOG games (browser, GOG Downloader, GOG Galaxy) and 2 ways of installing GOG games (Running the downloaded installer manually, or installing with Galaxy). Whoever told you you have to use Galaxy to download or install GOG Games was mistaken.

Hope this helps.

It's a beta, it has some issues still. :P

Granted some people have more issues than others, my issues have been very minimal and I am enjoying it so far. Hope to see another major update soon.
