DeathSpank and its followup title Thongs of Virtue are both 600 points on Live this week (week is up on Monday I think).

If you haven't picked these up yet and enjoyed the demos, 7.50 isn't really too bad for them. I would not recommend them if you didn't think the demo was amusing as the game itself (the first one, haven't played ToV yet) is just more of the same, albeit amusing, formula.

Mentalepsy: So what's up with ARES: Extinction Agenda, then? Reminds me of an amped-up Abuse, or of Megaman X while that series was still good, but the word 'episodic' makes me cringe and the RPS comments are mostly lukewarm.
I've tried the demo. It's alright I guess. Character movements are a bit "floaty"; I find the camera a bit annoying when it zooms closer to ARES in particular rooms; it also feels a bit like a Flash game, something that you'd find on Miniclip or Newgrounds. Nevertheless it's actually quite fun.

I am interested in it though, and I'd just sit back and wait for a lower price drop. All other opinions are pale and irrelevant :P

When did it go to OnLive? I thought DeathSpank was only on Steam?

Is that $7.50 each or total? Curious because I passed when they were $7.50 each on Steam -- waiting for a package deal. Not that I would sully myself in buying a console but I just want to know if I should /rage silently over better deals on XBawks.

Sweet talked the ol' girl into lending me the funds for it and expansions, so managed to snag it in time.

Unfortunately, even though I meet sys reqs, it runs real slow on my system and looks like a Commodore 64 game.

The more of these Anno / Colonization games that get released, the worse they get. This looks like it could've been a GoG from '91.

EDIT

DOH! I don't know what Stardock has been smoking but I just found the real minimum sys reqs for Commander and it's asking for a dual core - no wonder it isn't working right on my system!

It's a music-based game, kind of looks like Rez. One of the best trailers I've seen I think, sooo check it out. :)

Each.

Thongs of Virtue has a small piece of DLC, but it's 240 points/3 USD. It's not necessary to play through the game though.

I just completed the first one, I think I sunk around 10 hours into it. I listed to most of the dialog and tried to keep the dialogs going as long as possible with the funnier NPCs, so keep that in mind.

... The trailer makes it look like another version of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... which got really boring after a while.

Thanks for the info. Figure it'll take a while for them to get to the 75% discount level which is probably what I'll buy it with. To my knowledge the mini-DLC for ToV is provided free on the PC version. I had been waiting for the game for quite a while and was somewhat let down by the ~ten hour game play number. Still, I guess I have to remind myself it is more of an Adventure game first with ARPG game play as opposed to a true ARPG that typically would last 30-40 and have good replay value. Hothead has talked about the possibility of more but I don't know how good it would be without Gilbert or whether or not he'd collaborate now that he's working with Double Fine. Personally I'd love to see more because I think the art direction with the 2D background is fantastic.
