Navagon: But yeah, you do make it sound like they missed the point spectacularly.
They decided to go all Star Wars and really push the budget. Built a whole universe of lore around Riddick, the only trouble is it's only one movie so it spends most of it talking about the lore and then it's all over very quickly. The Necromongers were interesting but the movie was so rushed you cant really enjoy them.

Imagine taking Dune, Aliens and Bourne Supremacy then squeezing all 3 into 90 mins. It was mostly a mess. Saying that there are some good one liners and some great action sequences so it's still worth watching. You will end up watching Pitch Black again though to appreciate the great character that has now been lost in some vast space opera.
just make sure to watch teh directors cut of riddick and not the stupid theater version
All very true and valid points.

Wait, you found Dune to be ok, but you are having problem with the pace of Riddick? lol

I love Dune but if there ever was a movie requiring more length it was it.
I would have liked to see more film in the Chronicles of Riddick, I even saw the movie at the threatre 4 times. That's 1 more than T3 and 2 less than The Fortress.

My point is this, save 10% on your next order on shrapnel games (gamersfront.com is the store) through January 17 (today) with the coupon 2CWPTEN.

I meant in the theatre not dvd etc.

I never said that. Dune most certainly needed to be longer but in the 1980's and with the movie already running way over budget that was never going to happen. I still think Riddick is even more rushed than Dune was. Chronicles is at least two movies of content squeezed into one.

I agree with that.

In the theatre yes, two of which on the same day. A few more on DVD.

Wow, I don't think I could even watch my absolute favourite film twice in one day.
Please discuss this in another thread.

Virama: I have to watch Pitch Black again. Fuck but I love that movie.

Navagon: Me too. I haven't seen Chronicles of Riddick yet, but apparently I should keep it that way.
No, you should watch it. True, it was hyped too much so too much was expected of it. The first time I saw it I thought it wasn't anything special at all, but watchable. Then I got it in a 3-pack DVD set and so watched it again and quite liked it. Every time I watch it, it seems to be a little bit more enjoyable. Then I got the director's cut version. This has some parts which are much better at explaining the story than the original theatrical cut. Plus you can get it for only a few pounds:

I've not seen Dark Fury though. Anyone know if it's any good? I do know that it is a short animated film, but is it any good?
Not strictly a deal but a fantastic bargain. D2D now have the Sega & Megadrive classic colleciton 4 up for $7.50/£5.50/$7.50 and it includes:

- Alien Soldier
- Gunstar Heroes
- Landstalker
- Light Crusader
- Shining Force
- Shining Force II
- Shining in the Darkness
- Streets of Rage
- Streets of Rage II
- Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair

Much cheaper than buying them seperately and for some reason GamersGate don't have this pack yet. As mentioned earlier in the thread The Shining games are an instabuy and Landstalker is an overlooked classic.

Delixe: - Landstalker
Awesome game. Dark Savior on Saturn is even better.

avatar
Delixe: - Shining Force
- Shining Force II
- Shining in the Darkness
Must-have games if you like the genre. I have them all, but that's still a good deal.
Sorry, don't see it in the last two pages or so, but may be just blind., but just in case..

It's okay to say Reddit :). Anyway, look at the original thread here, where you can read up more about this thing (including the author's comments - and it just occurred to me his name is Tetragrammaton on Reddit... I'll have to give him a couple of extra points for that one).
