Call of Cthulhu is way discounted on Steam.

Anyone here played it?

Not that it matters. For $1 I can afford it even if it sucks. :P

I can't play these types of games but did see VideoGameCarnage (or just Carnage on YouTube) give it a go. Looked great but he abandoned Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth due to a serious bug. He didn't use any of the available unofficial patches, nor did he attempt to run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

I bought the boxed version with DVDs (and no Steam code) back then and have very fond memories of the game. Granted, at first I also had the problem that it regularly crashed after a few minutes but after finding the inofficial patch online I could finish without problems (that I remember). It was my first encounter with H.P. Lovecraft and I've bought every story from him since then - that alone should tell you that I was pretty impressed. ;-)

Especially the first act (no fighting at all!) has a great, chilling atmosphere. Later it gets a rather typical ego-shooter which isn't quite as great but it's still fun (well, or not, considering it's a horror game ...) and has a good story. I wish I could play it for the first time again, so have fun with it!

The Mac version requires Steam (or at least it's not as simple as dragging the game out of the Steam folder, which is what I tried).
