I think I've been able to bypass the wrapper at least in a few cases by locating the main executable of the game and launching that instead of the link created by the installer.
Anyway my experience with the Giveawayoftheday games has been positive.

According to this it is legit. I also downloaded the game myself and only the gamefiles were downloaded (the installer shows the files during installlation). Myrealgames logo is shown when game started and after installation their web site is called. As far as I could see that is all. They obviously just are allowed to simply offer older small games.
