FearfulSymmetry: At that price GOT and TFTB are definitely worth it. Just finished playing everything they've released for those games so far, and I had a lot of fun. The Borderlands game is very funny, a bit less serious than most Telltale games. GOT on the other hand is super dramatic, and I have to say the choices in that game were really hard sometimes.
I'm tempted by GOT, TFTB and TWD2, because I liked that TV series flair of TWD and TWAU but ... I haven't read through a single book of Song of Ice and Fire, nor watched a full episode of Game of Thrones, and I'm not sure whether I like the art style of GOT. TFTB looks more like my cup of tea - the style is a bit closer to The Wolf Among Us, which I loved -, but I haven't played through the Borderlands games yet either. Does it make sense at all to buy these games in this context, or should I rather wait until I'm familiar with the source material (and by then, if it ever happens at all, GOG might already sell the DRM-free versions for 80% off, too)?

I did play through TWD though, but I wonder whether TWD2 is worth playing, too. I found TWD very gripping, engaging and exciting but also terribly bleak and depressing, so I'm not sure if more of the same would actually be a good thing. And playing Clementine herself might change the game quite a bit; I wonder if I'll still be able to care about the other characters as much as I cared about her. So, am I nuts for even thinking about buying these games, considering what I wrote above, or are there good reasons apart from the price why I should do it nevertheless? :)

51nikopol: So I see lots of giveaways for Puzzle Agent in the future!!!!
IMHO puzzle agent isn't very good (at least on Mac were it's basically broken)

mabrookes: I would check what it is once you reach the pay section, on the final payment the price changes and it might correct itself there. Or it might be cheaper.

spoderman: Yeah I had a similar bug that made the price $1.25 for GOT and Borderlands, but it corrected the price when I went to paypal.
The prices calculated in the cart are really all over the place. It just showed me "Game of Thrones", "Borderlands" and both "Poker Night" games for incredible 0,89 Euro! (corrected price in the next step was 10,70 Euro, I think) ...

I wasn't familiar with the Borderlands franchise, and while that obviously means I miss out on some references, I'm able to follow along with the story just fine. It's harder for me to say if that would be the same case for GOT, as I've seen half the TV series and have read all the books, so I came in with quite a lot of background knowledge. I'd say it would be playable but you won't get everything out of it, seeing as the game prominently features some of the actors/characters from the show as well.

To be honest I don't like TWD that much. I own both that and the second part but I have yet to finish the first game. Somehow I can't really connect to it, but that just goes to show that tastes are different. I'm sure I'll come back to it and finish it someday. :)

I wouldn't say you're nuts. If you end up only paying around 10-15 for these games in total it's an excellent deal, I easily spent that much on each of them separately. I think that even if you end up not really liking one of them you'll still have good value for your money. And who knows, playing through a bit of GOT might even get you interested enough to check out the books or the show. :) And yeah, the artstyle is maybe not quite as beautiful as in the other games, but I find it still very much acceptable. And GOT really had me agonizing over some of the choices, which hasn't really happened for me in the other games.

FearfulSymmetry:
Well, a good friend of mine has been a big fan of GoT, mostly the books, but also the TV series, and even he didn't manage to sell me on it so far. I tried, but rather half-heartedly. Maybe he would be interested in the game though, so I could gift it to him. Hm.

I'm not a big fan of TWD either, as I don't like zombies and survival horror to begin with; but I still found the game somewhat fascinating in that it managed to conjure up emotions, both in a good and in a bad way. I thought it is a game that can make you ponder about life and humanity beyond the silly zombie setting, even long after it's over. And at the same time it's also somewhat trite, because the premise is so ridiculous and sometimes it just reeks of sensationalism, letting horrible things happen all the time just because, and at the end of the day, all the emotion is invested in a rather pointless thing ...

My favorite so far was TWAU, and TFTB seems somewhat similar. I guess you're right, even if I end up only liking that one, it will have been worth the asking price. And maybe my friend will get some entertainment out of GoT, too. Thanks for the reply! :)

Well, the Humble versions do come with both a Steam key and a Telltale one, so I guess you could give one to your friend and try out the other for yourself if you're not completely sold on it ...

I can see that, and it's why I really tried to get into it, but thus far I'm just not really connecting to the characters in the same way that I do in the other Telltale games. Still, I'm determined to play through all of it eventually, and who knows, it might still win me over.

That's my favorite as well, I think it's easily the best of the bunch. TFTB is a lot more lighthearted than TWAU, though, I found it to be a rather different atmosphere. It's a much less serious game, and it's a lot funnier overall. I think all of the games have different strengths and depending on who's playing it that will make some of the games better than the others. :) Good luck with whatever you decide to do, and I hope you enjoy the games if you do end up getting them.

IAmSinistar: Is a bit of an insult, after I waited a good while for it go on sale on GOG. Still, Kromaia is worth the BTA.
I read your post then decided to look a bit further into Kromaia and...

¡Hostia, si son maños!
(Trans: Communion wafer, they're Aragonese!)

I'm more interested now. And the game looks... looks like... like...

I have no idea what I'm looking at!

Addendum: Is that a shingeki no kyojin t-shirt Daniel is wearing?

I'm very tempted to round out my Telltale games collection with this "build a bundle", but I wonder how likely it is that we'll see a similar discount on these games here on GOG soon. I'd rather have them DRM-free on GOG. Someone mentioned that you get Steam and Telltale keys. I assume Telltale keys aren't somehow DRM-free -- does anyone know (such as a download and offline activation with the key)?

Thanks!

a few of the games are 100% drm free on humble (according to the store page at least) - back to the future being one,
more recent ones require activating / downloading from telltale and all the issues involved therein (Ie Wolf Among Us, TWD may not update beyond the initial episode for many users), so unless humble offers it DRM FREE on the store page, you're better off using steam than telltale (or GOG of course above steam).
@sachys have you ever heard about "Cyrus Crashtest"?
