Catshade: Gamersgate has started offering preorders for Sega Megadrive/Genesis games, .49, DRM-free (minus Sonic 3D Blast, which is around $6)
EDIT: You also get bonus 250 blue coins too

Looks like they've dropped those prices to $2.99 and $4.99, respectively. Good thing, too. I actually remember playing Golden Axe on the Genesis - save your pennies. It cannot hold a candle to the original Golden Axe arcade machine. IIRC, Altered Beast was more of the same. If one of those ninja games (Shinobi/Shadow Dancer) is the one I am thinking of, there is at least one level that you have to hit attacking ninjas with throwing stars in pseudo 3d. Almost like one of those early gun games, eg Operation Wolf. Vectorman was a very good, somewhat unique platformer. Cannot comment on the others. If you like arcade game versions, I recommend researching MAME. I know there's some control stick out there that sells arcade versions of old games.
Give me Phantasy Star 2 - 4 for $10 and you'll have a deal. Maybe even $12. I wonder if they bundle these with Kega or Dgen or something custom?
For those that aren't familiar with Phantasy Star, the first one was on the Sega Master System. For the time, it featured things that weren't generally thought of, such as people not displaying a movement animation until they actually moved. Also the dungeons were a semi-static 3d display, similar to Tunnel Runner on the 2600 (but better detailed). For reference, Ultima III was released on the NES that year or a year later. The units in Ultima III would march in place. And the graphics were a lot blockier. To be fair, Ultima had some cool features, too, such as LoS visibility and a strategy type combat grid during combat. Both good games, but Phantasy Star was far prettier. Also, there is a Japanese version that has much improved sound, I think it was for the SC3000. There was a translation effort, but I don't know if they succeeded. Really like to see that one again, with or without the improved sound. There's a mid game battle that's extremely difficult, and the end battle is quite difficult also. As for how to play it, Meka is a good SMS/GG emulator. I've heard Kega can run them.
Oh, avoid Miracle Warriors. It was all grind and very limited graphics, almost like a text adventure. That was the first time in an RPG where I felt I was wasting my time grinding. And you died. Frequently. Even in the previous areas you'd conquered. Especially in previous safe areas. Usually around the bridges. Felt the same about the first Dragon Warrior, too (I know, I know, heresy), but at least going back to the beginning area didn't get you killed all the time.
Most likely, the Phantasy Star games will eventually be released, since it's part of every Megadrive/Genesis console collection I've seen.

Metro09: Anyone have any feedback/thoughts on Majesty 2?

Loved it :) although there were a few missions that made me want to throw my mouse... however...a good game, have yet to try the DLC for it (if they every made a deal for 1+2+expansion id get it)

Believe it or not, I got PS2-3-4 all second hand at Babbages. This was before the now-common practice of just taking $5 off retail. They were roughly 1/2 to 2/3 off full retail price. Then again, all mall-based video game stores are basically Gamestop now, so it is no wonder the used price went up. I haven't been to one in three years. I bought Final Fantasy Tactics from someone trying to sell it to Gamestop for $15, which was $5 more than the $10 they wanted to buy it for. I'm no longer welcome at Gamestop - oh well.
