Foxhack: Some of us just find it much easier to download the game from Steam than have to endure a third party site. Just look at all the people who got the free games from that UK site, they can't get their downloads.

As for Dark Messiah, I thought that game required Steam, even on retail packages?

StingingVelvet: There's a difference between avoiding sketchy or small sites and only wanting to use one provider. If you lose your Steam account for some reason, even for just a week, your entire library could be gone. Like I said, eggs in one basket.

I use Steam, Gamersgate, Amazon and GOG. I have an old Direct2Drive account, so I guess I have a Gamefly one. It would take one hell of a sale to get me to sign up to another site, but I don't need everything to be on Steam.
