You could say that. Ru-version has region, language and DLC lock and you get it based on the Geo-IP.

For 13 EUR now you get WoW, TBC and WotLK.
I knew they'd have to do that eventually, kind of hard to draw in new players if they have to spend an extra 50+ on old expacs.

What about Cataclysm? That's kind of required too... still 40 bucks or so?

Every expansion is well worth the money, but I guess the game being a MMO with 4 expansions now, Blizzard cannot stay with the traditional business model.

You can get Cataclysm for $10-$40, depending on where you buy it from. I expect Cataclysm to be released for free once an expansion after MoP is released.

EDIT: TBC was made free near the release of Catalysm, so it is possible that they'll continue this trend after MoP.

EDIT2: It appears that they also moved fully away from retail boxes, relative to their store. Only WoW, D2 BC, and SC BC are available as retail, probably leftover copies.

What does it do now?

And doesn't the scroll only really help old players re-activate? I thought it wasn't really viable for a new account (though maybe it is).

Unless they changed it still the same I guess, that's just when I tried it myself. And yes, it's just for people who re-activate, although i think that'd be the bulk of potential players at this point though. I'd imagine most people who were interested in the game will have already tried it at one point or another and have an account lying around somewhere. (most, not all)

Today's GamersGate deal is the AI War Alien Bundle, 75% off. Ancient Shadows isn't included, which isn't surprising seeing as it's still in pre-order, but it's only $4 right now anyway.

All said, not a bad game, and a pretty decent price.
