orcishgamer: We were posting and directly talking about the very deals he came in to comment on. All he was doing was giving us info from the horse's mouth. GOG has been extremely permissive in us advertising deals from other sites and Tony never tried to post in any threads save this one, which is dedicated to posting deals from all over. If you're in here you know about deals on other sites, even those that compete with GOG (and no, I don't think Amazon and GOG have very many titles in common).
I personally think it is different if the poster is just an user (customer) of different services, or a member of their staff. I think some sites don't allow advertising of competing services even by its users. But maybe GOG staff indeed contacted him in PM, and that's why he left. Not because of one user complaining. Nothing is saying though that in such a case the representative wouldn't make it public "Ok, the GOG staff told me to leave you guys, so unfortunately I'll have to do that.". Again making the staff look like the bad guys.
These are not quite as easy questions as some think, there are lots of involved things. I just think it is clearer if the company representatives understand to stay away from each others' forums (goes also to GOG staff), except plainly as individual customers of the competing service. So if some Valve staff member has a problem with his GOG game, or vice-versa, fire away. :)
That's just my opinion, I didn't tell the Amazon guy to go away (at least IIRC), and I was kinda happy to see some answer to a question that had been bugging me about Amazon.
