orcishgamer: Overall, they're a cool idea, I'm just wondering if there isn't a better design for them.
JMich: I have a friend (or addict) who carries a usb stick with WoW on him at all times. On his desktop, he has an SSD just for WoW. While WoW would definately not fit in a ram drive, I guess it is possible to load some smaller games there (Torchlight, Legend of GrimRock, or any <4GB game). Not sure if you'd really see a performance boost though.
I thought you could get some pretty big Ram drives, didn't they have 100GB models back in the day (I know they cost a lot).
You know what, I was thinking of a different kind of hardware, lmao, yeah, you could have a Ram drive:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM_drive That's actually a pretty good idea, you could pre-load your favorite game, most high end mobos support 32GB so you could even fit most modern shooters (hell, you could run Max Payne 3 with a 64GB set up).
