orcishgamer: I'm warning everyone again, Alice Madness Returns is pretty underwhelming. Even for free it's probably not worth the time you put into it.
avatar
TheWhiteRose: I dissent against this opinion heavily once more. For 7.50 it's more than worth it. If you can get it for 2.50, well you scored yourself an amazing steal.
For that same price range you're better off playing an amazing game, like Sequence, SPAZ, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, etc. I guarantee there's a couple games in there that anyone considering buying Alice hasn't played and should. If you liked the first Alice game you're likely to be terribly unimpressed with this one. At least read some user reviews and see if you can get a clear picture. The game is really repetitive and the environments look really empty because Alice can jump/glide so damned far in this one. You can only look at creepy baby doll mask so many times before whatever effect it may have had is completely lost on you, 90% of your enemies will be a creepy baby doll variant.

Anyway, it's just an opinion, do what you like, I saw far better games coming up on that list of sales. Though it's not a matter of price, rather time spent on mediocre quality gaming.

KOCollins: Wierd, anyone else get Dead Space 2 for free on Amazon?

csmith: Amazon's official rep said this on CAG:
If you've tried to apply your coupon prior to today, or on a title that isn't listed on the page above, it is OK your coupon is not gone, it has just been applied to your account. Simply check out with one of the titles on that page and the $5 will be deducted. I have now tested this 3 separate times.

csmith: But knowing the deals next week, I'll be saving my two codes for Alice and something else:

1/16 – Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition + Dragon Age 2 Bundle: $11.99 - $6.99 with $5 Holiday Promo Code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/17 – Medal of Honor - $6.99 - $1.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/18 – Battlefield Bad Company 2 - $6.99 - $1.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/19 – Crysis Maximum - $7.49 - $2.49 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)

Is $11.99 a good deal for the Dragon Age bundle?

muddysneakers: Is $11.99 a good deal for the Dragon Age bundle?
If you want to play the games it's the first one, plus all DLC, and the second one (sans DLC I think) which is a lot of gameplay. Obviously DA2 got panned pretty hard but I think they've patched out some of the shittiness. I don't see that crap ever getting a lot cheaper, though if you waited a year or two you might get DA2's DLC thrown in with the bundle.

Thanks. I've got an Amazon gift card sitting around. I'll probably use it.

Agreed. I think I even paid full price for it, and I still think it's a great game. Would have preferred an isometric camera so I could play for more than half an hour at a time, but it's still cool.

Or you can be awesome like me and buy Alice, SPAZ, Sequence, Majin and Enslaved. Great games indeed. I'll even give to you that SPAZ, Sequence, Majin, and Enslaved are better games, but I don't think Alice is worth missing out on especially if you pay a pittance of 2.50. That's less than Starbucks' coffee.

I don't mean to be rude but there's saying your piece on a game/piece of media for or against, and there's over obsessing over it. We GET it...you don't like the game. Why keep telling everyone this if you have already?

I mean you said you didn't like it so much one might think you have a vested interest against the company that made it or something. :\

And good/bad games are usually subjective affairs(Unless the game REALLY is bad as in buggy and near unplayable or maybe 3 levels/3 hours long or something.). What you may consider crap many may like and vice versa. (I only state this last bit because it seemed like you were stating the game was bad PERIOD/for everyone as if it was fact and not your own opinion.)

ne_zavarj: Also Awem Studio is still offering its 10th birthday celebration pack for $39.95 .

Thanks for the heads up :)

worlddan: I just can't get past the poor graphics. Back when Baldur's Gate was doing it that was OK, it was state of the art then. But I've been spoiled. I've come to realize that for me persoanlly even $1 is too much for his games. I love RPGs but I need more graphics.

deathknight1728: Generally people that are focused on graphics are better off staying away from jeff's games. The original avernum 1-3, nethergate and blades of avernum, are all very primitive in graphics. I admit that i myself stay away from them. However, geneforge 2-5, avernum 4-6 and avadon are all pretty decent graphics and very reminiscent of oldschool baldurs gate.
Lol how can you guys enjoy old games and not love the older SWS games? 0.o

Sure the really old ones are hard to play, but IMO they are much better in some ways(the oldschool feel/etc) then the remakes. Exile 3, for example, is amazingly well done.(And it doesn't have the sucky word parser text interaction style like Exile 1/2)

I actually think that blades of avernum and blades of exile were the best avernum games made. Avernum 1-3 i couldnt get into, and avernum 4-6 were ok. Blades of avernum was my favorite. The geneforge series is still my favorite series but i still like avadon almost as much. The regular avernums 1-3 i couldnt get into and avernum 4-6 i couldnt get into because it felt too much like geneforge. I can see why you like alot of people like exile the most. exile had everything you could want, dual wielding was even in there, something avernum 1-3 didnt have.

Once jeff remakes geneforge series, everything will change muhahaha!!!
Yeah Blades is/was good. The original demo chapter especially.

That is a point to be considered for sure. One does not work hard hours just be bored as reward?, never.

But still Enjoyed Alice: MR immensly as I did the first Alice.
The controls and the battles, though a bit simple, I find really satisfying. It`s nearly like some beat em up game.
Amazon is currently trolling the PC crowd by only having the Dragon Age bundle price reduction for the Mac version atm, heh.
