It is. It also shows they have no idea of how Steam works. While the Japan version requires 2 byte character support, which the English version does not, they fail to realise that Steam can serve up specific builds based on current Steam client language settings.

At least Bethesda Japan backed down when they tried to do the same with Skyrim and a shit load of people complained.

For Problems with region restrictions,
here is a nice solution:

Anonymous Browser Pro by http://branon.co.uk/win.php

This is a semi-brower that connects through the dev`s company proxy servers in the US. There is free sponsored version and a really cheap Pro version.

It´s been working reliably. Check it out.

-edit- Do NOT use with Steam!!! Steam does not like Proxies and will most probably disable your account.

PS: You cannot download anything with it, obviously

I have a problem that I can't seem to solve on my own:

I bought Alien Shooter Gold Pack from GamersGate in December, when it was on sale. According to the description, this item contains "Alien Shooter", "Alien Shooter 2 - Vengeance", and "Zombie Shooter". However, when I install it, only the first two games are available. "Zombie Shooter" is missing.

I already checked lots of possible reasons, but have not found any explanation yet. I'm now at a point where I'd need someone else to download/install the pack and either tell me where to find "Zombie Shooter", or confirm that it is missing (which I would then tell to GG support). Since the pack has been on sale recently, I'm hoping that someone in this thread bought it (it's also in the 1C Complete Pack, which is actually where I got it from) and can help me out - thanks in advance! :)

This is bad news, I have to Gold Pack sitting in my GamersGate Account for months and did not come around to install it. Right now I am off for dinner but in an hour or so I can repot back. If that`s Ok,
Did you get your Gold Pack also from GG?

That would be absolutely great! Waiting a bit is absolutely no problem at all, and yes, I got my pack from GamersGate.

Addendum: since we both are from Germany, it would be good to perhaps have a third person (who is not from here) to check the game. There have been speculations whether region restrictions might be involved (unlikely imho considering all the circumstances, but not impossible), and with 2 accounts from Germany and one from another region, we'd be in a very good position to verify/falsify that. In any case, I'm waiting eagerly (but patiently :) ) for your reply. :)

Hi just checked,
my installer is 915.617KB big.
And only installs AS-1 and AS-V , it alreadz said so in the installer window.
Tomorrow I have access to my Japanese VNC, wife is sleeping right now :) then I can see if there is a difference. So right now it look like region restricted, which is funny since one can buy the single version.

That would be great. :) I'm not expecting it to be region restricted (as that would require GamersGate to hand out different downloads for the same product depending on where you are, which they don't seem to do as far as I can see), but it might be a special case, and it'll be good to check it. Yes, the GG have rejected broader support for a community for now. I did have some exchange with them on that topic, but they said no human resources back then. So, you actually have more chances on their Facebook site to get some answers
Anyway time for a support ticket.

But i also think GG is a really untypical forum. I am always impressed by the large absence of jerks here. On Steam, Bioware etc. most of the writers are... "not helpful" ...
That´s also why i stick around so often. :)

I just spoke with jeff from spiderweb software and he stated that the gene forge, avernum and avadon series will be coming to gog. He said it will take time, but most likely avernum 1-6 and gene forge 1-5, nether gate, and avadon will there. Not sure about blades of avernum, but hey who knows.

Since I own all his games I don't actually need for them to be on GOG, but I'm actually terribly happy for him that he's reaching so many more people for DD, I really do think he derives a lot of satisfaction from people enjoying his games.
