Cleidophoros: No story because the game is not meant to have a story; what little you get in terms of quest and lore is just to get you to fighting. That's it.
Game doesn't really work well with scripted events required to make a story, big map, all those other parties and huge armies roaming the land etc.
There must be some story mods over in the forums but I have never been interested in those to know any of them.

There is no micromanagement in the game. None whatsoever. Just the usual buy/sell/update stats/change equipment. You haven't played the game it seems; do play first.
I understand not every game works good with a story but to me games without story don't interest me much. Sure there are some exceptions, and I do play some story-less games on occasion and enjoy myself, but I prefer to have a story in my games. :\

If someone managed to "wed" a true RPG and M&b i'd probably play the shit out of it though.

As for playing it.....I might if I cna fit it into my backlog.

Rage, I will also say, as I have to others, Mount and Blade (Warband especially) is an awesome game, I have played it hundreds of hours too. It may in fact be my favorite game fo the decade. It's weird, when I first started it was okay, but, it grows on you the more you play it. No, not like a fungus. ;-P
It's all about imagination as far as story goes. After awhile you start to feel like you our in this world, it's almost like you are part of a book. In fact if you ever read Elizabeth Moon's The Deed of Paksenarrion, that's what the game reminded me of. You and your rugged band of mercs in a war torn many-Kingdom land, slowly you gain skill, prestige, equipment, finally land.

Well, every one is different in their taste in games, so it may not be your cup of tea for sure. However, if you haven't already, try to pick Warband up on sale and then give it a go, who knows, it may grow on you too! :D
(No, not like a fungus ;-p )

There's a fungus among us?

Lol, sorry I just had to say that.....it sounded right for some reason.

But I will try it possibly later this month if I have time. I won't make any promises though, as "serious" (read: harder than casual) sims don't really appeal to me much. I tried EVE Online and rage quit after an hour or so.

Watch out Rage, there is Fungus Fungus everywhere! ;-p
You just reminded me, once you get a little skill, the Multiplayer for Warband is pretty fun. Nothing beats throwing an axe right in the back of a enemy running away from you! ;D

I wonder if people camp in M&B.....it'[d certainly bring new meaning to campers, what with the players sitting next to little fires and all.

Mmmm, I think more of them would....Only for some reason the Fungus in Mount and Blade really grows fast around campfires....it's sorta freaky actually.

Freaky Friday freaky? Or Dr Seuss freaky?

Definitely Dr. Seuss freaky, I'm getting some Green Eggs and Fungus vibe from it.

Pheace:
Incredible.. well, fear 3 was pretty cheap compared. (bundle deals are crap because you save nothing if you already own that most expensive one, never be too nostalgic) also are you about 20 minutes in the future?

Edit: Those older juarez games still pisses me off.. even when it is in sale, it ain't cheap. But with some sleep depravation I would recommend splinter cells 'cos I some time ago finished chaos theory. 12 hours ago infact. In the past played first 2. Also why pandora tomorrow isn't in anything? It was good.
