GameRager: 3. It's his IP.

StingingVelvet: Wait you mean I am only writing my opinion and not actually giving him orders? Holy shit what is the point of that? I will retire from forum posting immediately.
You don't have to be so flippant, mate. I was just stating facts and some of my own opinions to illustrate the gaps in your line of reasoning.

Flippant is my lifestyle. And I don't think you accomplished the latter ;)

Bah, if you can be flippant then I can be upset about i...oh wait, nvm.

Anyways, I did just that IMO. I showed why being upset at the pricing is unreasonable(it's his IP/etc, and also there are now alternatives for some of his games that is cheaper).

:\

I'm not really upset. I just want to buy his games but then I never do because he wants too much for them on his website and that is the only way I would buy them. So I live without, because really who gives a shit.

I think the steam ones can be run outside of steam. (I could test this if you like.)

Move one to a random other folder and see if it runs from there without Steam and without installing it there officially. That would make me a happy Neko Case song quote.

StingingVelvet: Okay first off I am not "steaming" at all.
Yeah, I realized that after I posted it, poor choice of words on my part and I apologize for it. I do understand what you are saying. I do hope you understand that I think he left the prices like he did because he knows that people who want to (and can) support him will come to his site and buy the games there. Most people on Steam, Gamersgate, ETC will probably never go to Spiderweb Software's homepage, they could care less about who made it. If you don't want to support the developer quite as much, which is your right, then there is nothing wrong with buying it where it is cheaper. I'm sure he would be more than happy with that. Many places have games at different "regular" prices. Including GOG I might add. Some games here are cheaper, or more, then you can find them someplace else.
So to clarify a bit, since I typed too much again: The prices are higher on his site because first off, most of the traffic to that site is by those who have been going there for a long time and are "Loyal" customers. These people on the whole (if able) would be willing to spend more for his games on his site so that they can support him more fully (I guess he could just have a donation button instead). Realize I'm not saying what is morally right or anything...If it was my site, I would probably lower it myself, but, it's not, and I don't feel like its a game-breaking deal...You see I was waiting for a year to buy the Geneforge saga on sale, so when I got it for under 50 bucks, well, I felt like I did pretty good. I'm rambling again, sorry.
Besides, I've already posted on other threads over the past few months his response to people saying the same sorts of things as you about pricing. I'm guessing you have already read that and probably don't like his answers...Well for the last time (I hope), here is the Webpage where he addresses the price problem, if you missed it:
http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com/2011/08/avadon-is-out-on-steam.html

To tell you the truth, I do feel that he will continue to lower the prices on his site, maybe never as low as Steam Etc, but, if his games sell well elsewhere, he will probably lower them there. I can't read his mind though, so I don't know. Sorry, if I came off as snappy before, I blame it on lack of coffee, but, well I do apologize never the less for any irritation I may have caused you Sting.

Yah. It's not so much not wanting to support him, I just don't want the games enough to pay >$10 for them.

No prob. I wasn't mad and I'm an asshole half the time anyway.

I don't get the last bit but i'll test it in a bit and get back to you.

Update: It says it's a no go.....if you don't mind though you can crack the steam out of it at any rate.

Instead of "happy StingingVelvet" I used the source of the name. Just me being silly-pants.

Tizzysawr: Did you try contacting them regarding that? Amazon has pretty amazing customer service, I'm sure they can find a way to give you your cdkey/game back :)

grape1829: +1.
Those Amazon reps are pretty fucking lovely.
I will likely do so, but I wrote it down just in case and still have the saved email, so it's small potatoes right now.

Does anyone know if there's a way to gift the extra copy?
Don't know if this has been posted yet, but Hamilton's Great Adventure is free right now if you're an IGN Prime member.
