GameRager: 10 actually, and it's normally 20. To be fair, though, he is charging it for hardcopies of the games.....and he does charge much less for digital copies unlike various other publishers who charge the same usually for their games whether you get them in a brick & mortar outlet or online.
I don't care about what he charges, I care that he charges something different at every store. Imagine if Half-Life 2 was $40 standard on Steam and $10 standard on Gamersgate... wouldn't make much sense would it?

One place is his own store though and is mostly for hardcopy titles(although he does also offer digital copies as well), and the others are third party stores/DD sites. If he wants to charge more for hardcopies or even digital copies at his own store I don't see why you're upset about it.

grynn: Yeah, GMG, GG, D2D, Amazon and all well known retailers sell region free keys. Only cdkey resellers sell shady region-locked Russian keys.
avatar
Ubivis: not exactly... I bought "Dead Island" from GG (without using a VPN), and Steam did not allow me to activate the key (maybe just because the game is banned in my country).

Took a while for me to activate it in a way Steam would not like :)
It must have something to do with Germany, like you said :D

StingingVelvet: [Spiderweb stuff]
GameRager speaks truth. You want Geneforge DRM free you get it from Spiderweb and yes pay more (plus support the guy who worked very hard to make it happen at all), you don't mind DRM then get it elsewhere. I know you were trying to get around the DRM of one of Spiderweb's games about a week ago, and maybe that is why you are really steaming now, don't know.

In retrospect, life is too short to complain about the fact that you can get a game cheaper some place then another. I could have more of a gripe then you ever could on this matter man. I bought the Geneforge saga from Spiderweb about 3 or so weeks before it was released on Steam...And you know what? I'm not complaining. I'm happy I got the DRM free version, and supported the guy who made it, so that he can better continue to do so.

If it wasn't for his hard work there wouldn't be any games at all, and if he chooses to charge more on his site, well, it is his site, his games, his choice...and you know what, people who have the means and who really want to support him and his games, will buy it from him, yes for more money. Ultimately you have a choice in the matter, and I don't see the need to complain about having choices, or to ban buying his games.

You really won't buy from him because of that? Maybe you, in truth, don't even like his games enough to want to buy more as it is (unless they are super cheap and DRM free of course). I truly think if you really wanted his games you wouldn't mind so much that they are charged differently elsewhere. That's just my thinking though, and I have been known to not always be right.
Do you guys remember the Ubisoft Birthday Sale on GameStop / Impulse when the games were only available for the NA customers . Funny to see the whole Ubisoft catalogue is available now for the NA and EMEA customers . :(

Edit : I don't understand how can someone buy this version.

Okay first off I am not "steaming" at all. Secondly I don't agree with paying more to have a DRM free option, that's just ridiculous. Also he should want to encourage purchases on his site since he gets 100% of the profit, rather than dissuade people from buying there with 5 times higher prices.

1. Most who buy from his site do so to support him and his continued development efforts.

2. There are other sources for some of his games now, so there's no reason to worry about it.

3. It's his IP.

Wait you mean I am only writing my opinion and not actually giving him orders? Holy shit what is the point of that? I will retire from forum posting immediately.
