orcishgamer: Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong but you'll have to sign in at least once. GFWL let's you play in offline mode just fine, in theory (some people claim to have problems, but usually their issues turn out to be 2 years old or more). Some older games used to make it optional.
GFWL in Arkham City does not require activation and is not DRM. Make an offline profile and sign-in with that, you never need to go online.

Ah I didn't know that GFWL still allowed offline profiles, in that case, yeah you can just do that.

Yeah, I never considered GFWL to be DRM, sorry if it came across that way.

It can be, some games like Dead Rising 2 and Fable 3 have a real SecuROM-like activation during the install process. Most GFWL don't though, and use some other DRM method. Batman AC uses SecuROM.

Didn't know they'd added activation in there as an option. I guess it's to be expected as every other copy protection suite of tools has done the same. Good to know, I guess.

So I don't need to be online to save the game? My internet cuts out quite a lot, I'd be pretty pissed if I'd just played a long session then couldn't save it.

Me saying you NEVER have to be online answered that question already I hope.

Deal of the Day at GamersGate: Total War Shogun 2.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

That's a pretty new game (released this March) for 83% off. And critically acclaimed, too - it has a 90% rating at Metacritic. Looks tempting, but it has a Steam requirement, so it's not for me.

It's new, and not all the tiny expansions are out yet.

Actually Amazon also has Shogun 2 on sale at $7.49, which is slightly cheaper than GG.
Ooh, I got through that window of opportunity right on time. I bought Shogun 2 fifteen minutes ago, and now it's doubled at $10! :O

Gotta check those daily deals immediately, you know? I feel good right now. :3 /insomnia
