Really tempted by Dead Island for $20... is it enjoyable in singleplayer?

Also might as well get Arcania's DLC for $3... game was okay as a pure hack n' slasher.

Yes, definitely worth it. I don't play it much but find it great in short bursts.

They have been available since release in Germany, just not on the digital distributon platforms like Steam and GG. Looks like the publishing issues concern the international version. It might have something to do with the fact that the developer went bankrupt. Part of the team now works for Bigpoint and is developing the next part as an MMORPG... a shame, really. I'm pretty convinced it's gonna be crap.

However, you will probably not get it cheaper. TC is 20 euros on Steam, so will be 5 euros with -75%, and Albion Prelude will start at 10 euros. Considering that it will be released in a few days, the price might not be reduced at all for the christmas sale. To save any money at all, you would need to wait for -75% on Albion.

Dead Island is okay, but I wouldn't put down $20 for it.

I really enjoyed it. It's a bit rough around the edges. But it's definitely a lot of fun along the way.

I hated it. After the first paradise area is over, the game goes WAY downhill.

A little bit like the first Stalker in "zombies only" mode. Untold stupid fetch quests, but a very nice visceral combat system. Good modding community and if you have some anger issues, this game will be the closest thing to meeting your ex-girlfriends new lover in a dark alley wtih a baseball bat. Single playthorugh is around 20 - 30 hours. Story is best to be ignored...

I bought on GG and activated entire X Superbox on Steam. As long as you dont click on download at GG, you can still gift X3:TC and the Bonus Disc, but the other games will have to stay in your GG library, so definitely buy at GG.

By activating on Steam, i will receive the new Albion expansion for free on my Steam account when its released on Dec15.

Dungeon Siege 3 for $5 and Gothic4 Arcania for $4 at Amazon is tempting, but reviews for both games are terrible, so i'll pass for now.

To be honest, this has happened a lot more often and much more recently with Origin than with Steam. :P

Dungeon Siege III reviews aren't really "terrible." If you like that kind of game it's well worth $5.

DS3 isn't terrible, it's not great by any means, but it's probably worth more than 5 bucks. You'll get a good 20 hours per playthrough out of it and it's worth playing a 2nd time for most people (the only reason I did not is because of the sheer backlog I have - regardless I'll play Human Revolution twice!).

Dead Island is a good investment for $20. The combat system is fun, the character leveling system is good, and the game is actually somewhat tense in single player.

It's a tale of two games. In singleplayer, you can easily get swarmed and if playing with one of the more fragile character you can get beat on pretty bad.

In multiplayer the game changes to a roving band of hooligans beating defenseless zombies for the sport of it. It's almost unsettling the pack/destructive atmosphere that sets in when you realize you and three other buddies are curb stomping a poor zombie to death while laughing about it.

It's not for everyone though. Every single NPC swears and many of them are highly annoying. And yeah, most quests are the "Go here, retrieve X, bring back" or "Go here, kill X, return" variants.

It's a solid "snack food" type game.
