trusteft: On the other hand, they have Hardwar.
Which is another lazy release often complained about.

SirPrimalform: This thread suggests that there are things missing. Apparently they've updated it, but no one's yet said whether they added everything back in or just some things.
Videos are there. The music's still missing, naturally. :(

SimonG: You can wait for LA Noire, especially as it seems to be a very bad port.
I don't get the bad port thing. Sure there is texture pop-in but that's a limitation of the engine and was present on console as well. It's no worse than Rage.

When it was on sale, I was checking out the forums. And they were worse than usual. I think I will still get it in due time, but after what I've read, and the GTA IV fiasco, I'm waiting a bit more ..

I generally find forums to be a bad place to get objective reviews about a game. Only the complainers sit there wirting while the majority are usually too busy actually playing the game to bother. It's like with anything, complainers are always loud and vocal but are usually the minority. I can pick any game at random and find people bitching about it, if you go into a game looking for something to complain about then you can usually find something. Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Arkham City, LA Noire etc all have massive amount of complaints. Having played all four of them I really don't get what they are complaining about.

Actually, it wasn't the complaints, but the FAQ stickyed at the top of the forum. If a game has two pages of user made fixes, that should have been done by a patch from the developer, it get's me thinking. And I might have overlooked that, if it werent for Rockstars track record with GTA IV. I didn't even look twice at those steamtwats complaining about the game (I mean, those were the Steam forums after all), but only looking at the post people made that were positive or helpful made me cautious.

And it isn't like this is the only AAA title available at the moment. So I picked Anno to satisfy my "full budget release needs". But I will get LA Noire eventually, just not right now.

Only two issues I found was the texture pop-in and the game crashing when you quit. TBH it's the game itself that should make you more cautious than any technical problems. People expecting another GTA were disappointed, it's very much an old adventure style game. Check for evidence, question suspects, build a case then you have to handle the interrogation properly or you can easily blow the whole thing and have to start again. I can see how this game is a very aquired taste and it's certainly not for everyone.

That is a ridiculous amount of good games for four bucks. I'd buy them for the Irem stuff alone.

Damn, now I want it even more! How is the engine performance? Texture pop in don't bother me, but getting aslowdown at every corner really annoys me. Any issues with stuttering sound? I had those a lot with GTA IV...

And that "crash after quitting bug" seems to be in most games nowadays...

If you played Rage at launch then the effect is similar, the draw distance is very low betraying it's console origin so buildings will look low res until you are very close then suddenly the high-res texture will pop-in. This really isn't an issue when you are working on a case but it's noticeable when you are driving. I haven't had any sound problems or lag but like all PC games YMMV. I would recommend playing it with a 360 controller if you have one so you can get the rumble hint.

Piano key audio clue is quite enough and more subtle than Phelps shaking in excitement on seeing torn panties.

Personal choice I guess. I found it more immersive to have the controller vibrate to give you a hint than the obvious audio cue.

Replaying LA N. on PS3 I switched off all the clues. It's not that hard to find the items when you know where to look. :)
