grviper: Back to the thread topic, DotEmu is offering half price on a crapload of point-n-click adventures. Sadly most of them are of the "let's knock out the player with graphics and hope they don't notice the puzzle design" type.
Some of them are decent like Runaway but the distressing thing about DotEmu is the regional pricing. Lots of €=$ there now, including this sale.

uchos: Some sales on Beamdog.

In particular the King's Bounty series: KB Crossworlds GOTY at 6.25 USD.

Anyone has any experience with them? What about the DRM, is it just their client?
The games are tied into their client only but despite, they're tied to it in a way where you can't make backups.

So if you have to pay per byte downloaded, like we do in NZ, it's not really worth it until BeamDog implements a system that allows you to back up data, otherwise every time you have to reinstall you're going to be downloading the entire game all over again.

Metro09: This. Duke 3D's 'humor' is total overkill to the point of the inane.

Eriako: I'd have gone loony if I played it instead of watching a Let's Play. To be fair, I'm not the target audience of Duke Nukem games, but I don't think anyone appreciated the overly repetitive phrases.

I wanted to like it, too, since the franchise is so engrained in gaming history. Oh well, hopefully the next DN game will be the over-the-top thing everyone seems to want, because I'd like to know what people see in it.
I've NEVER been a fan of Duke Nukem. I mean, I understand that the games are supposed to be silly and stupid, and that he's a parody of action film heroes, and blah blah blah... but just isn't amusing or endearing to me. It comes across as immature at best. Am I overreacting? Probably. But that's just my personal reaction to Duke Nukem. Nothing against people who like him and his games.

That Dawn of War there seems like a real deal on Steam. $10 for each title.

€20 for Dawn of War II, Chaos Rising and Retribution. If you don't have a single Dawn of War II title that's a fantastic bargain. Also Retribution multiplayer free weekend.

$50AU, same price as the entire THQ bundle. ffs valve. going to pass on all of this out of principle.
Anyone from EU willing to gift DoW: Soulstorm from steam? It looks like it's a lot cheaper in euros than dollars. I'd be willing to repay in gog's or something else.

I don't care about the multiplayer part . Is the single player good enough , or nothing but short campaigns on recycled maps ?

It's like the same campaign with small differences told from the 6 different perspectives. You also now have the ability to summon actual units to the field like a proper RTS game. Your Pop-cap depends on how many 'heroes' you deploy and resources are gained by seizing objectives.

No base building , and you can only control 4-5 people ?

There hasn't been base-building in Dawn of War since Dawn of War II. Dawn of War II and Chaos Rising only allow you to control those 4 hero units. Retribution allows you more flexibility in what you can deploy. Like I said you can leave a hero behind and boost your pop-cap to increase your army size.
Are Tyranind in DoW 2 as crappy as the reviews indicate?

I dont know about Retribution single player, but they are sure as hell formidable in multiplayer.

General consensus seems to be that Retributions campaign is a bit weak compared to the predecessors, but since it finally got rid of GFWL matchmaking(thank the EMPEROR for that), and got tweaked multiplayer, it is much better played with other people. It kind of reminiscent of Company of Heroes where the last expansion Tales of Valor was more tuned for multiplay, and lacked in the single player aspect.

BTW did i mention that DAWN OF WAR GAMES ARE THE BESTEST SO BAI THEM NAO! ^.^
